Because 5 years ago, there were no Patriots fans. Now there's tons of them. Just like back in the 80's when everyone was a 49ers frontrunner... I mean fan.

That is idiotic logic. Sure, hate the fans, and secretly know that you are not a fair weather fan, but why the team? Because the 9ers did win a lot in the 80's? Anyway, I have been a devout niner fan since birth, and will always be one, no matter the record. Much like moochman will stick by his lions, and you are sticking by your skins. As for the Pats, I have liked them since they were the worst team in the league.... I always root for the underdog....
