James Jones, Golden Tate, A. Armstrong, or Branch? WHIR

Postby beezer » Tue Oct 12, 2010 7:58 pm

In a 14 team PPR league, which one of these WR's would be the best waiver claim? I'm pretty soft at WR with Megatron possibly missing some time and MSW being inconsistent. Jones is WR3 for GB but could get more looks with Finley out for a while. Tate will get more snaps but Sea. offense is awful. Armstrong may soon be #2 in Washington but I haven't seen him or heard of him before to be honest!! Branch is back in New England but will he be rejuvanated with his buddy Brady? Any help is greatly appreciated....WHIR

I'd say it's between Jones and Tate. With Finley out Jones should see a lot of looks. With that being said Tate has a ton of potential and coaches said he will be used heavily. I say go Tate

Instead of looking at Branch like he gains value by going to NE, I look at it like how much value Tate gains by Branch leaving. I like him over the other 3.

please help:

I'd go Jones and Armstrong IMO. A little info on Armstrong, he was the WR that Redskins LOVED during preseason and we obviously kept him around. I think he can do big things and I do see him as WR2 behind Moss (possibly target #3 due to Cooley). I don't know much about Tate so I can't comment on that. As for Branch, I can see something happen where he gets okay numbers because of the chemistry he has with Brady. All WR from GB aren't great this week as Rodgers is out BUT his long term value is just as you said...he's their 4th target. All are a crapshoot but I think Branch does have the most long term potential.

I had the same issue as you. I grabbed Tate to "pocket" in my roster, but am monitoring Armstrong and James Jones. I read somewhere that James Jones could be "the WR pickup of the year", with the chance to get more targets now he could take off. Armstrong officially is a starter and passed Joey Galloway on the depth chart. Branch is not worth getting according to 95% of analysts.

So if you can grab more than one of these guys, grab James Jones and Armstrong. I think they will have the most immediate effect and could be long-lasting and in Armstrong's case for the rest of the season. He has big play ability.

I'm in the same exact situation, I can grab two of the above lol. So far I grabbed Golden Tate. Still debating on my second pickup. It's either Jones or Armstrong. I really want to go with Armstrong because of his potential. I feel like Jones is the safer pick but Armstrong is the WR2 and if Moss ever goes down which he has before you have an amazing sleeper. I'm leaning towards Armstrong but will follow this thread for a bit to decide.

Nice pickups. I want to grab Jones but don't know who to drop!
