Peyton Manning Trade - some insight

Postby mossr18 » Tue Oct 12, 2010 8:44 pm

I'm in a Yahoo! PPR league and I have been contemplating about trading Peyton Manning.

My roster as of right now is:

QB Peyton Manning
WR Mike Wallace
WR Louis Murphy
RB Peyton Hillis
RB Steven Jackson
TE Vernon Davis
Flex Brandon Tate
BN Jonathan Stewart
BN Greg Olsen
BN Kyle Orton

The trade that was presented to me was Peyton Manning and Jonathan Stewart for Randy Moss and Ryan Mathews.

Making my lineup a bit more appealing (I think)

QB Kyle Orton
WR Mike Wallace
WR Randy Moss
RB Peyton Hillis
RB Steven Jackson
TE Vernon Davis
Flex Ryan Mathews
BN Louis Murphy
BN Greg Olsen
BN Brandon Tate

I'd just have to pickup a QB for week 9 and I'll be fine throughout. I can see Orton maintaining his aerial attack and continue to put up big numbers every week, even moreso when Moreno comes back. I like Randy Moss because Favre has a huge man crush on him and will just feed him the targets on a weekly basis (hello 10 targets and a score on Monday night). And I have a feeling Ryan Mathews will start breaking out for big games when he's fully entrenched as the starting RB. But I'm looking for opinions on this deal and any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I think you can get more out Manning, specifically at RB (I'm not sold on Mathews, this year with Tolbert the bowling ball in the picture)......Although your roster does look better after the trade.....I don't like the deal so much... you do need help at WR and RB though.....This must be a 14 team league???

I'm in a 12 man league. The problem I'm running into is that people are overvaluing their players and want much more than what would be fair. They also disregard stats and trade solely on the name. There are three teams that need a QB and I was throwing out all kinds of offers to them and they were getting rejected.

For example, Andre Johnson and LaDainian Tomlinson for Peyton Manning and Greg Olsen (he has WR depth and no TE as Finley is injured). He countered with Peyton Manning, Mike Wallace, and Vernon Davis for Andre Johnson, LT, and Lance Moore (who he just dropped this morning). So people want the world for their players who aren't performing well.
