Moss for Gore straight up? WHIR...Promise!!

Postby Chibears » Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:30 pm

Hey guys and gals,

Disregard my signature...this is a different league. Standard CBS league - No PPR - Start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K and 1 D

Please keep in mind that I have offered another team my Ryan Torain for his Jeremy Maclin.....maybe I should be happy with this trade and keep Gore?

My roster....

QB - Jay Cutler - Usually only carry 1 QB and feel comfortable here.
RB - Frank Gore - Star 1st round pick but willing to part for his 1st rounder Moss considering my RB depth?
RB - Ryan Mathews - Has had bum ankle...can I depend on him rest of year?
RB - Jahvid Best - Bum toe for this guy....will he get better?
RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - Star in the making but never seems to stay 100% healthy.
RB - Marshawn Lynch -This might be my jewel...gonna supposedly get a big workload now in Seatlle.
RB - Ryan Torain - Though nothing special, no competition for carries.
WR - Calvin Johnson - Megatron hurt his shoulder last Sunday...Stafford not back till week 8?
WR - Hakeem Nicks - Solid surprise for me.
WR - Malcolm Floyd - I benched him last week! Doh!
WR - Mike Williams (Bucs) - Just picked him up this week...if I do the trade, he'll get dropped.
TE - Chris Cooley - Riding the wave with this guy...no worries for a couple more weeks on his bye.
K - Matt Bryant -Solid surprise
D - Bears - Solid surprise.

His roster.....

QB - Carson Palmer, Matt Cassell
RB - Arian Foster, Cadillac Williams, Mike Hart
WR - Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, Steve Smith (NY), Mike Wallace
TE - Owen Daniels, Zack Miller
K - Neil Rackers
D - 49ers, Falcons

So my thoughts being that I do the trade, drop Mike Williams and pickup James Starks and stash him away for a couple weeks till he starts running for 100 yard games! :) Seriously though, getting Moss solidifies my WR's and still think RB's are OK, especially if Starks does take off. Am I missing something? Leave your link and I'll give my humble opinion. Thanks ahead of time! ;-D
QB - Drew Brees
RB - Arian Foster, Ryan Mathews, Trent Richardson, Stevan Ridley, Mikel Leshoure
WR - Julio Jones, A J Green, Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas, Kenny Britt
TE - Jimmy Graham
K - Blair Walsh
D/ST - Texans

I think I'd do it .. since it's a non - ppr league. To me, a lot of gores value lies in his receptions ... and I think Moss is in for some big games back in Min.

However, I wouldn't drop Mike Williams though. He's been very good.

Help me out man?

If you can get Maclin for Torain go for it, and stay pat on the Gore for Moss deal, if they can't or don't bite on the first deal, go for the Moss deal.....good luck

Id hold on the Moss deal. I love Nicks Floyd and Megatron as a starting three. Gore is more useful to your running backs than Moss would be to your receivers.

Agreed with VikingFan. Make one deal or the other, not both.

There's no way I trade Gore in your position, and you laid out the reasons why as you described each of your backs. Everyone of them besides Gore has an "if" attached to him (as in, if he stays healthy). Granted, it's unlikely that Best, Bradshaw, Mathews and Lynch all go into the tank, but why would you leave yourself in a position of having to pick 2 out of 4 "if" guys every week? Your WR's are strong, and even when starting 3WR's, you have Nicks, Floyd and Calvin to lean on. Torain for Maclin is a good deal for you, that's insurance with upside. But I'd forget about dealing Gore, I think the potential for harm is a lot bigger than the potential for gain. Good luck!

Thanks for the help with mine. I would agree with the others in the fact that if that first trade gets accepted I would hold off on the moss deal. However, if that doesnt happen I would probably do that. The majority of gores points this year have come from receptions and it not being a ppr league i think moss has more value.

I like your team as is but if you move gore move him for Wayne...but im telling you gore has a nice schedule at the end of the year ...fantasy playoffs should be easier with a motivated gore...especially if niners get on a roll it's going to be on gore's back...
