Should I Trade For One Of These TE's? WHIR 100%

Postby ICanGoAllTheWay » Thu Oct 14, 2010 1:40 am

So I have fallen victim to the injury bug this year, and the latest injury being Jermichael Finley being out for 8-10 weeks, and likely out for the entire season. So I picked up Heath Miller, and have the option of picking up others like Heap, Pettigrew, Quarless, Sheffler, etc.

However, here are the owners with 2 TE's, so I may be able to trade for: Aaron Hernandez, Witten, Celek, Kellar, Shockey, Cooley, and Tony Gonzalez.

Here's my lineup, and I got a lot of RB depth, but I'm not sure if it is worth it to give up one of my RB's for one of these mid-level TE's.

QB: Vick, Eli Manning, McNabb
RB: Michael Turner, Jones-Drew, Ryan Matthews, Ronnie Brown, Ryan Torain
WR: Boldin, Nicks, Holmes, Walter
TE: Heath Miller

It is your typical league, QB, 2 RB's, FLEX, 2 WR's, TE, DST, K

So most weeks i'll be starting Turner, MJD, and then interchanging between Matthews, Brown, and Torain based on their matchup. But most weeks, assuming no Bye's 2 of my RB's will be sitting. However, that time of the schedule is coming up where roughly every week someone is on a bye, and I need bench depth. Is it worth it to give up someone like Torain or Ronnie Brown for someone like Aaron Hernandez or Chris Cooley? I'm just not sure if it is worth trading a good RB for a mediocre TE, who is not much better than what is available on the free agent market. Do I really benefit that much more from Aaron Hernandez/Cooley/etc than Heath Miller? And if I do go for a deal, who would you recommend, i'd be leaning towards Hernandez. What do yall think? Any advice helps, and I WILL HELP IN RETURN, JUST LEAVE A LINK.

Heath Miller's best days are definitely ahead of him with Big Ben back. I'm not really big on any of those free agents you listed either. Hernandez, Witten or Kellar might be upgrades over Miller, but you would be giving up a decent RB for a small/ no gain at tight end. I say stick with Heath at least for this week against Cleveland. If it is clear that Ben is off his game since coming back or isn't giving Miller any looks then next week I would consider a trade for the right price.

I would try for Aaron Hernandez if I were you. He is passed his bye week, and will be a good starting TE every week from this point on. I would send back Heath Miller and I am not really sure who else you would need to send, but Ronnie Brown wouldn't be too terrible.

It looks like you need some WR depth behind your studs. I would look at grabbing somebody like Davone Bess or Brandon Tate if he is available. Are you holding 3 NFC East QBs cause you love the NFC East? I would drop Eli or McNabb while you wait for Vick's return. I think McNabb has more upside this year so I'd prob keep him.

You have some room to make a few moves :D

Thanks. Lol I don't love the NFC east, but just realized that all my QB's do hail from the pitiful NFC East. Started with Eli and McNabb and then added Vick. Once Vick got hurt, thought it would be good to keep 2 mediocre QB's to interchange. I'll probably drop McNabb soon, but i'm waiting till Week 8 when both Eli and Vick are on byes.

Do you think I should give up Ronnie Brown or Ryan Torain. The problem with Ronnie Brown is he splits carries and plays a tougher schedule and has to face tough defenses like the Ravens, Steelers and Jets. Torain isn't a big name but I like his potential and no one is stealing carries from him. I think Brown is yet to get over 15 carries a game. Brown for Hernandez seem fair?

Brown + Heath Miller for Hernandez. Hernandez is kind of in a sell-high period.

I recommend you keep Torain! He has way more upside and if he has a big week this week his trade value could go through the roof. You have some good depth at RB so you prob won't need Torain unless you have injury/bye week problems.

As a Skins fan, I can say that I think you would do well to trade Torain for Cooley if you can. Cooley is the best receiver in DC and McNabb loves his tight ends, as he doesn't throw the ball into tight coverage, preferring to hoof it or dump to the flat or TE. I wouldn't trade Brown unless you can get something more than a TE. At the end of the season, the difference between the top TE and 12th TE is negligible...if you can even pick the top TE. Hernandez wasn't even on anybody's radar at the beginning of the season.

I agree with Gibbs. Torain for Cooley is a good deal if you can get it. You don't lose much depth and you pick up a solid TE.

Thanks with mine.

Do you guys think Cooley is better than Hernandez? I just think McNabb has been inconsistent and i'm not sure how much he can get Cooley the ball in comparison to the great Tom Brady.
