Should I pick up Cooley for trade bait? WHIR

Postby tmacuf » Thu Oct 14, 2010 9:53 pm

My brother has Finley and he picked up Shockey, said he won't give anything for Cooley (just dropped by someone who took M. Lewis) and TE's are not worth that much, but I think he might be suckering me into not taking him off waivers. Anyways should I drop V. Jackson for Cooley and use a 3rd position waiver for it? (I have D. Clark so I don't need him) Is Cooley not worth much in trade world?

TE is so deep in shallow leagues (12 teams and less) that aside from Gates and to a lesser extent, Vernon Davis and Clark, they don't carry much trade value. It seems like Cooley should be owned and started in just about all leagues though. I would have certainly taken him over Shockey. I don't see any problem with picking Cooley up and hanging on to him. It's a defensive move (no one else can use him) you can use him durnig Clark's bye week (assuming they don't have the same bye week) and as injury insurance.

you don't think I could get a low end running back like law firm for him? or combine him in a trade?

Awww..one of the joys of playing fantasy football...c*ck blocking another team owner to prevent them from improving their team..even better when it is your brother.. ;-D I know that Brees is a gunslinger but he has so many options in the Big Easy that i think that Shockey gets lost in that group of talented receivers. Granted, McNabb has not been focusing on Cooley as much as when he was in Philly and had Celek but he has alot less offense weapons at his disposal than Brees..Drop Jackson for Cooley.

I would he is a top 12 TE and you get the chance to keep him away from other teams he's a much better option than shockey, and you may not get much, say a #4WR or a #5 RB, but it's worth it
