trading for gates

Postby fierro33 » Mon Oct 18, 2010 7:38 pm

Ive been offered this trade: the latest Ive read is that Gates has a sprained toe? and could play this week??

Gates
Torain
Eli manning

for

Moeaki
Bradshaw
Cutler

10 team PPR

QB Romo
RB Gore
RB Foster
RB/WR Sjax
WR Andre Johnson
WR Miles Austin
TE Moeaki
K Rackers
D Bears

Cutler

Bradshaw
Lynch
Greene

Calvin Johnson
Percy Harvin
Mike Williams TB
Vincent Jackson

If i do the trade it means i would i would have to drop someone to pick up a tight end that would sub for gates while he is out.

Im 3-3 and somewhat confident i will make the playoffs...keep in mind this is a PPR league and im not comfortable with Moeaki as my tight end. Pettigrew is still out there to pick up however

I like this trade for you. I like Torain slightly better than Bradshaw since there is no RB competition in DC whereas Jacobs steals goal line carries from Bradshaw. You downgrade from Cutler to Eli, but with Romo having gone through his bye already, you are not in desperate need of a backup QB. Gates is a HUGE upgrade at TE. From all the news surrounding the injury, it is not that serious and there is a possibility he will start week 7. Even is he misses a week or two, all you lost at the position is Moeaki who can be replaced by a waiver TE until Gates returns. Really, the Gates owner is panicking at what seemed like a bad injury at the time and you should take full advantage of that.
QB - A Rodgers, E Manning
RB - A Foster, S Jackson, R Mendenhall, T Jones, R Bush
WR - G Jennings, L Fitz, S Smith (Car), P Harvin, V Jackson
TE - A Hernandez, J Tamme

Do it, but only because of how much of an upgrade Gates is at TE, and that Bradshaw/Cutler are inferior to Romo/other RB's.

Other words, I'd say no. Torain is an injury waiting to happen (banged up already) and much worse of a fantasy option than Bradshaw, while Eli Manning is a downgrade from Cutler imo.

I think when healthy the one getting Gate gets a better deal, but I think Bradshaw is a good amount better than Torain, esp bc i think Portis coming back maybe possibly evnetually will have a negative effect on Torain. Shaw is the 3rd leading rusher in the league and is being underrated in fantasy this year IMO.

thanks for your help with mine
