What Should I Do With Turner and Jones-Drew? WHIR 100%

Postby ICanGoAllTheWay » Tue Oct 19, 2010 5:39 am

So I got two pretty big duds on my team in Michael Turner and Maurice Jones-Drew. What should I do with them? Hold on to them, trade them, wait for them to have a good game and then sell high? After watching the Monday Night game, I think MJD is going to have a hard time this season. Teams are stacking 8 or 9 players in the box, and basically forcing the Jags to pass. Not to mention the Jags look horrible and will likely be playing from behind most the season, eliminating the running game and their best player (MJD). As for Turner, I like him more because at least the Falcons can throw the ball to take some pressure off the running game, and the Falcons are able to compete, allowing them to run the ball through out the game. Before you guys give me some advice, I'll lay out my team for you.

12 Team standard scoring league, No ppr
1 QB, 2 RB, 1 FLEX, 2 WR, TE, DST, K
QB: Eli Manning, Vick, McNabb
RB: Turner, MJD, Torain, Matthews, Ronnie Brown
WR: Boldin, Nicks, Holmes, Gaffney
TE: Heat Miller
DST: Giants
K: Matt Bryant

As you can see, I have pretty darn good RB depth. When there are no Bye's, at least 2 of my RB's are sitting. I don't really need to upgrade at any positions. So if I did trade Turner or MJD, it would be for another RB in return. Do I sell low and take a deal on someone like an Ahmad Bradshaw, or should I try for a better deal? Or do I stoop down a little and try for a MJD or Turner for Stephen Jackson or Cedric Benson. Or should I package a Torain and MJD for an elite player like Gore, Peterson, Foster? HELP ME!!! Leave a link and i'll help back. I'm pretty good with helping others, I just have trouble deciding on my own situations.

Given that you also have Matthews, who--while not at all stellar--should see an increasing role, trading away MJD might not be a bad deal. I'm with you that of the two, I'd likely rather keep Turner. If Gore's owner would do MJD + Torain for Gore + perhaps a WR3 (which he likely would if he needs RB help), I'd say go for it. I have Torain as well, and while I hope to ride him out for most of the season, I may attempt to sell high on him soon in a package deal for someone like Bradshaw or LT given his injury history. If you can unload him now after his performance this past week, you might be better off.

Also, who does Gore's owner have in terms of a QB? Given the Kolb/Vick situation, if the former isn't available on waivers, you could possibly use an upgrade there (I don't like McNabb much this year). If Kolb is available, though, swoop him up now...whoever starts between him and Vick will likely be a top-10 QB the rest of the way.

Edit: Forgot to mention--the fact that you have MJD, Turner, AND Matthews, along with Nicks and Boldin, in a 12-team league, is just ridiculous. Good stuff.
(0.5 PPR, 12-team league)
QB: Vick, RG3
RB: McFadden, Matthews, K. Smith, R. Williams, M. Goodson
WR: Nicks, S. Smith, Britt, LaFell
TE: Hernandez, Pitta
K: Bironas
DEF: Spot start (Cin in wk4)

how did you get all those players? wow, nice.

i had mdj, and i sold him for turner 2 weeks ago, and still nothing productive coming from turner either, so i feel your pain....i'd still rather have turner over mdj.

i like the idea of packaging mdj/torain for a upgrade, i'd try that first.

It is hard to believe, but my team is 2-4. Not because of Turner and MJD producing low, but because of injuries (Finley, Turner taken out in week 2, Mathews, VICK!). I had Randy Moss, and traded him for MJD, and Nicks was kind of a surprise pick, and now he has turned into a must start every week. Anyways, as enticing as MJD + Torain for Gore seems, the guy who has Gore is 6-0 in the league and just has a dominating team (Peyton Manning, Gore, Foster, Bradshaw, DJax, Austin). So I doubt he is going to want MJD and an extra player (Torain) to sit on his bench.

Here are a list of players who I may be able to get in my league, tell me what you guys think and what a fair trade would be with out me giving up to much. Here's the list:
-Stephen Jackson
-Adrian Peterson, the guy has mcfadden and moreno who are both really dinged up, i'd have to give up a lot but i know the guy needs extra depth, so I could do a 2 for 1 trade.
-LeSean McCoy
-Ray Rice, this may be the most easy to get guy in my league. The guy who has him is 1=5 and desperately needs RB depth. He has played poor like MJD and Turner, so the guy will likely sell somewhat low. Not sure how you even rank MJD, Turner, and Rice.
-Cedric Benson, he would be easy to get too in my league. Owner of Benson is 1-5 and his team is just horrible. He needs depth badly, but I'm not so sure I like Benson (never been a benson fan for some reason, I think his Bears day rubbed me wrong).

Thanks for help with mine...

To be honest, Unless you can get someone like AP or maybe Jackson, I'd stay put...

And if necessary, I'd even deal Turner... take a look at MJD's playoff schedule... gold. I know you're worried about making the playoffs in the first place, but if you do, you'll love having MJD.

Just cause you've never been on him before, I'd advise you to look at his numbers and try to get Benson. He's not in a time share and if his owner is 1-5, he might be willing to pair him and maybe a middle of the road WR or TE for like Turner or MAthews.

Scout your options and let us know more firm trade options.

Good advice, after looking at MJD's schedule i'm going to keep him. After his bye week, he faces some real week defenses. He has the Colts, Texans, Browns, Raiders and Redskins. All of those are real favorable matchups. I think i'm just going to stick with what I have. But i'm willing to take more suggestions.

Thanks for help on mine, I can't drop Hill for Stafford till 3 in the morning, but Stafford can't play this week that's why I want to trade cooley instead of drop him.

I live in Jville and I always watch MJD. I like him to turn it around. The Jags are feast or famine it seems, but even in the famine I see MJD over 10 fantasy points a game form here on in (in ppr) with some bust out 25-30 games so I keep for anyone but Rice, AP, CJ, or Foster... Turner I dunno about, try to package for Gore or one of those other guys I listed. Keep MJD!
12 Team 4 player keeper no strings. Standard roster/scoring except can start TE at flex
QB Stafford, Kaepernick
RB Foster, McFadden, SJax, Moreno, B. Tate
WR D. Thomas, Nicks, D. Moore, Maclin, A. Brown
TE M. Bennett
K Jani
D Lions, Dolphins

I'd try and move MJD as soon as you can......I got him in my league, and no takers, things are only going to get worse if Edwards becomes the starting QB in Jag-Land.
