sinister wire tactic: Is this insane?

Postby geeksincleats » Tue Oct 19, 2010 9:07 pm

Im playing an equally good team this week who has P. Manning on bye. Finally I get lucky. My team is set, active and healthy. I could do without any claims this Waiver Wire.

However, my league only has a couple viable QBs on the WW and after them there is a steep drop off in talent. (in my opinion)

Alex Smith, Kevin Kolb, Cassel, Josh Freeman & Hasselbeck, Henne & McCoy are his options.

I've got a dud I can drop for any of these QBs to prevent him from making a game changing pickup to replace Peyton this week against me.

Would you pick up one of these guys just to prevent your opponent from filling his QB spot with a potential game changing QB?

I would. Would you?

I'd either pick Smith against CAR, Hasselbeck against ARI then Kolb in TEN.

You could even pick up one of those QBs, drop him a day later. Pick up another one, drop him a day later... so on and so forth. I know in my league, there's a 2-day waiver period after a player is dropped.

BUT, I think it's kind of a sneaky, underhanded tactic, but still well within the rules. It's good gamesmanship, but bad sportsmanship.

personally this is a great idea imo. sinister? absolutely but your not playing FF to lose. I'd pick up one of these guys (not sure which, woulda said Kolb b4 the DJax injury) but I'd pick one up and make sure his options are limited.

EDIT: Funny story about this... last year I was playing in the Super Bowl (my dad of all ppl) and his WRs were diminished in week 17 (mine were as well with AJ and Colston not playing) either way I knew he had a man crush on Aroshamadu and I had the WW priority and picked Aroshamadu basically just to block him from getting him.... Well my dad changed gears and ended up picking up Jabar Gaffney saturday... I ended up losing the game lol. If I would have let my dad take Aroshamadu and have started Derrek Mason like I originally intended i would have another Super Bowl under my belt... Just food for thought ;-D

Thanks for the input, glad to know you guys are on board with this. Victory is victory in my opinion if the rules arent broken.

I think i'll grab Kolb as hes likely to be the most popular of the bunch at the moment, and more likely the guy my opponent would pick.

If I catch flack for it in my league, I'll just say it was I was nervous about Romo's thumb. ;-D
