Kolb worth #1 WW priority?

Postby WaCougMBS » Wed Oct 20, 2010 12:52 pm

Hey all - question about the #1 priority in my league for this week. I am really set at all positions other than RB3/flex, and can get Kolb, who could be a $1-5 keeper next year (depending on season-long performance, and how things shake out in Philly). I own Vick too, but have been going with the revolving door of WW quarterbacks since Vick got hurt, and now that Kolb has been dropped and not yet picked up, I am wondering if it's worth the #1 spot to lock up the Philly QB?

This will leave me pretty thin at RB3/flex since I only have Forsett or my fourth-best WR there, but I think I can cull the wire for a couple of guys once I've covered my byes and be OK. My only fear is that I'm giving up a shot later in the season to get a guy like this year's Jamaal Charles, etc., but with the kind of uncertainty I have a QB and the fact that the position in Philly has a LOT of value, just not sure which guy will get the work at this point, is it worth upgrading my stability at QB for sure and then just playing flex by ear?

Here's my roster, thanks in advance to any/all responders, and WHIR as always ;-D

12 teams, IDP, standard scoring - start QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, Flex, TE, K, 2 DB, 2 DL, 5 DP
QB - Vick, A.Smith
RB - CJ, Hillis, Forsett
WR - AJ, Roddy, Knox, Colston, L. Moore
TE - Keller
K - Rackers
DB - Harper, Marshall, Verner, Godfrey
DL - Carter, Babin
LB - D.J. Williams, Weatherspoon, Hayes, McClain, Henderson, Morrison

well its pretty imperative to have a legit qb1 in any league, and right now due to health you do not have that, and your wr are stacked, you are solid at rb as well. I know it is tough to lose #1 waiver but you cant keep holding out hope that someone is a bonehead and drops a guy , I say kolb is worth the waiver risk to assure you a #1 qb each and every week. Make the claim and solidify your team overall.

I think you kinda have to...

Do I think Vick is capable of being a top 5 QB? Yeah I do, do I think Philly is going to make this a very stressful coupe of weeks for us fantasy footballers - damn straight.

#1 WW priority is nice and all, but IMO this is the type of move you have to make...

You basically are assuring your self the starting QB in Philly - which is as pass happy as they come & both guys have shown they can be exceptional any given week.

Top tier QB + elite RB + 2 top 5 WR + potential top 3 TE coupled w/ an entremely solid RB2, 2 WR's on one of the more explosive offenses in the league, and a decent PPR asset in Forsett = recipie for a winner.

I'm of the opinion that you fix your weakness as soon as possible w/ the best option possible - I think Kolb does that for you.

BTW... you may already have this year's JC on your roster - that very well could be Hillis - just all year long.
