Matthews was just dropped in my league, I'm kinda thinking about dropping Jamaal Charles to pick him up. Charles would be a beast if he got the full load each week but the Thomas Jones thing really gets on my nerves.. Should I make the move?? My other RB's are Chris Johnson, Arian Foster, and Cedric Benson. 8 team league and I'm currently 5-1 leading my division. We only start 2 RB's each week. RB scoring is 1pt per 20yds rushing/receiving, 6pts per TD, 1pt per 50+yd TD, -2 per FMBL..
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance! And leave a link..
yes pick him up, but not sure I would drop charles, do you have any other players to drop?? 8 team leagues everyone is stacked though, so honestly, with your rb crew its like picking between apples and oranges, just a preference, but mathews will be a top tier rb by season;s end so id grab him one way or the other, personally im not a fan of benson, but his situation is better than charles, though charles is clearly more talented. I assume its a one yr league though so it wont matter much, but get mathews
mathews has more upside the rest of the way than both benson and charles. I would drop either benson or charles for mathews myself, I prefer charles over benson and would drop benson, but with that said benson gets goal line work, charles does not so that is your prefrence but yes, get mathews regardless:)
If you like Matthews' upside, I would drop Benson for him. You likely won't play Benson over Foster or CJ2K but Charles or Matthews could get there with their upside.
I would pick up Mathews and drop Benson. I did a little research for you and noticed that CJ has his bye in week 9 so you will need your fill in... Benson is playing Pitt that week while Charles is playing Oakland (31st ranked defense against the run) and Mathews is playing Houston (25th ranked defense against the run).
Matthews is a complete bust he will not score more then 7 pts the entire year don't bother picking him up he isn't in San Diago's game plan especially when they fall behind every week and Rivers throws 80% of the time.
No offense, but I can't imagine dropping Benson for Matthews. That's just bad advice. You've weathered Benson's bye, he's startable, is in an offense that WILL use him, is not splitting time with 2 other guys, and someone's suggesting you take a RB that has been hurt, has his bye coming in week 10, is on a pass-first offense, and is splitting WAY too much time...
What's going on here? Benson has had 2 bad weeks, 2 monster weeks, and an okay/meh week. And his bye is history. Benson is the 13th ranked RB in my scoring, IF YOU SORT BY WEEKS 1-5, so his bye week 0 doesn't impact the numbers. Because it shouldn't, until all RBs are past their bye week.
Matthews? He has had one okay week. The rest has been bad, whether injured or not.
Sure he should do better, and I think he will. But better than Benson? Where's the track record to prove that this is even possible? And with SD struggling so much... you have every chance in the world that he'll be getting 10-15 carries per game. You're getting demonstrably bad advice IMO. Maybe some people are just valuing Matthews more than I do... maybe people are just trying to give quick opinions to get help on their threads... but IMO they're crazy.
In a need situation, you start Benson and Foster with total confidence, with CJ out. I think you're just in a league that is designed for some less fortunate team to pick up Matthews. I don't think I drop Charles for him. It's the only RB you can CONSIDER dropping for him, though. IMO, that's all there is to it.
FatFoot, I totally agree with you. I'm actually one of the few people I guess that really likes Cedric Benson and feel I can count on him.. I just wanted to hear some people opinions about Matthews. No way I'd drop Benson for Matthews, but dropping Charles was something I was debating. I think I'm just gonna stay put.. Don't fix what ain't broke, right?
Thanks for the input everyone, even the Benson haters...lol
