Potential WR waiver pickups (WHIR)

Postby freezer » Wed Oct 20, 2010 5:58 pm

With Andre Johnson and Braylon Edwards on a bye this week, I'm considering filling out the WR2 slot with a waiver pickup. Here are some of the WRs available in my league:

Sims-Walker (Jac)
Britt (Ten)
Walter (Hou)
Murphy (Oak)
Branch (NE)
Mason (Bal)
Mike Williams (Sea)
McCluster (KC)
Naanee & Crayton (SD)

Any of those guys you'd pick up and start instead of Roy Williams (against the Giants) or Robert Meachem (against Cleveland)?

My team:

QB: Orton
RB: Mathews, Hillis, D. Williams, BJGE, Tolbert
WR: A. Johnson, S. Smith (NYG), Roy Williams, B. Edwards, Meachem
TE: Gonzalez, Hernandez

Start Williams.

I'd look at Branch for a viable WR3 like Williams for the rest of the season, but would use Williams over Branch at this time.

Danario Alexander if available makes for a potential huge jackpot if he fills in the shows of Mark Clayton well. This could turn into another Brandon Lloyd, within reason. Britt is almost as hot as Williams is the but QB situation isnt encouraging.

There is no better option this week than Williams. 5 TDs in 3 weeks is all I need to be convinced, frankly. Branch, then Alexander if you want some depth. Alexander having more upside, Branch being safer week to week.

Thanks. I don't like starting a player against the Giants, but it's hard to argue with the way Williams has been targeted the past few weeks.
