What to do about Gates? WHIR

Postby hesparza77 » Fri Oct 22, 2010 5:25 pm

I'll admit, my level of concern is growing as he hasn't been able to step onto the practice field all week. Doesn't seem like a simple toe injury on the non-injured foot to me. Even if he comes in, with the other injury issues, how much room will he have to make plays?

On the other side of the field is Hernandez, my back up, who has the opportunity and skills to be a more than adequate fill in this week for Gates. So do I use him? To me, the 'go with your studs' generic advice doesn't hold much weight. If Gates was the only one hobbled a bit, then I wouldn't worry. But with Naanee and Floyd also doubtful at this point, the Pats will look to lock Gates down if he suits up.

I don't think I would risk playing Gates when you have such a good backup choice.

Gates is not going to be nearly 100%. I think he will play. He probably will be somewhat productive. But, I personnally would not risk it.

That "play your studs" crap goes out the window for me depending on true match-ups that warrant it. This is a case in point.... and in your position I like Hernandez...a lot

Thanks for helping me earlier!

My bench TE is also Hernandez. Unless the injury reports drastically change, I'm starting Hernandez this week.
