This trade was vetoed....right call?

Postby BaseFan » Wed Oct 27, 2010 9:25 pm

I am in a standard 10 team yahoo league with 3 and 4 extra points at 100 and 150 yards receiving and rushing. I am currently tied for first at 5-1. My team:

QB Rivers
WR C Johnson
WR M Wallace
RB A Foster
RB M Turner
TE O Daniels
WR/RB A Bradshaw

Bench
QB Big Ben
RB J Charles
RB Moreno
WR D Bowe
WR S Holmes
WR M Floyd

Our league vetoes trades by league vote. The trade that was vetoed: Chris Johnson for my A Bradshaw, J Charles, M Floyd, and Moreno. Is this trade even close to being vetoable? Thoughts either way would be great. I felt while I of course would be losing some depth, a trio of Johnson, Foster and Turner would be a very tough out. I have always felt that the only way a trade should be vetoed is if it is egregious, which I dont think this trade is, but maybe I'm wrong. Im trading Bradshaw, a top 10 back, J Charles, a top 15 back, Moreno, a top 25 back, and Floyd, a top 20 wr for a top 2 rb. Leave a link and i'l help with yours. Thanks

veto's are supposed to be to prevent collusion.. I think what some might be thinking is your dumping players to someone.. which, a 4 for 1 trade I'd suspect that also. I'm amazed you needed to offer that much for CJ..

There should be some evidence provided to the collusion, and I would request that reasons be given for its veto.

You're in first place so your trade gets vetoed because it makes you better. Is it right? No, but that's the way people look at things.

I'd protest this big time.

Not only is this trade very un-even but a veto should ONLY be used to prevent collusion.

Yup. I'd say you're giving up a little too much, but given what your roster will be afterwards it's worth it. And the only reason it's vetoed is because of how many people involved/where you're ranked.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes half the league hated it bc they thought I as giving up too much and the other half hated it bc then I would have johnson, foster, and turner.

A little more background tho: Our league only has 5 bench spots. I played last week without a kicker when I picked up bowe bc holmes and Calvin were on a bye and floyd was injured, but I didnt want to drop them. But obviously I dont want to play without a kicker every week and since my defense, giants, are on a bye this week, rather than drop two good players, I just threw in moreno and floyd with charles and bradshaw to make sure he would accept the trade since I was going to have to drop them anyway. Obviously, the trade was vetoed so it didnt work out, but thanks for the help!

I would have liked to be on the other end of that trade. Then I would rock back in my chair and sip lemonade, waiting for the inevitable injury to your squad (see Murphy's Law) while I took your spot in the playoffs.
