Rivers trade, WHIR

Postby saemick » Thu Oct 28, 2010 8:17 am

I get: Phillip Rivers
I give: Ryan Fitzpatrick

Now, I know this seems like a no brainer, but the only hesitation I have is that Fitz can be kept, while Rivers can not.

Here's my current roster:

QB: Cutler, Kolb, Fitz
RB: Best, Foster, DWill, Moreno, Forsett
WR: Randy Moss, Nicks, Dez Bryant, Steve Smith (CAR), M. Thomas, Sidney Rice
TE: Gresham, Lewis
K: Cundiff
D: SD
Scoring: 10yds rush/rec = 1pt, 25yds pass = 1pt, TD = 6pts, fumble/int. = -2pts
Start: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR/TE, TE, K, DST

I would do this in a heartbeat. Whether Fitz can be kept or not is irrelivant since its this season and I"m guessing you're trying to win. Rivers is a good QB, maybe not as good as his draft number suggests but thats debatable, fact is he's better than Fitz. Rivers is in a bit of a slump with hurt WR's and a ground game that is split between 3 people. SD wants to win games so they will figure it out soon. This week they're going against a stout Tenn run D that will shutdown their run game....so that means they will have to pass, and Tenn is weak against the pass. Even as high as Fitz's stock has risen I don't consider him a keeper, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I think this is a great sell high on Fitz. He'll come back down to earth eventually. Not saying he'll be terrible, but you should easily be able to draft someone comparable next year. Rivers, on the other hand, you'll be starting for the rest of the season and should earn you some more wins
