Mike Vick or Eli Manning (WHIR ASAP!)

Postby ICanGoAllTheWay » Wed Nov 03, 2010 3:16 am

Ok, so Mike Vick looks like he is back and fully healthy. He is getting the start this Sunday, so do I play him or not. Here are the matchups:

Mike Vick vs. Indianapolis Colts
Eli Manning @ Seattle Seahawks

Both teams struggle pretty bad against the pass. I think Vick is more likely to throw a lot because anytime you play the Colts you are forced to throw in order to keep up with Peyton Manning. The Colts are really banged up on defense, but Dwight Freeney and Mathis really scare me. Those guys cause fumbles and force QB's to hurry throws (if anyone watched the Monday Night Game they know what I'm talking about). However, heavy pass rushes by the D-line opens up room to scramble which could lead to lots of Vick running the ball. As for Eli, he is playing a pretty bad Seahawks secondary. I'm from Seattle, and I hate to start Eli against my Hawks, but I'll do it if it gets me the win. However, Quest Field is a really hard place to play with its loud and crazy atmosphere. So do I go with Vick or Eli? Don't forget, Vick hasn't played in nearly a month, whereas Eli has been really hot lately.

Leave a link and I'll help back ASAP.

I think eli is due for a clunker, like you said seattle is a really tough place to play, and i believe its the toughs stadium to play in, seattle plays much much better at home.....with vick against the colts, vick will be forced to pass, i see that game turning into a shoot out, one reason why i'm starting vick over ben....also colts pass rush, could lead to alot of vick scrambles and those rushing yards add up alot quicker than passing yards....Colts defense is alot better at home, becuase they are a smaller defense, and they are built for quickness, that turf in colts stadium makes them that much faster, they don't play well on grass (not sure what kinda field philly has?) either way, vick throws better on the run, he wont be as easy to catch as shuab, colts wont be able to go up field around tackles and te's, becuase vick will just gash you up the middle, the defense will be forced too slow down and not go up field like they did shuab, and if you take colts quickness away, which vick does, you take away the main strenght of that defense.

quick question about my topic, you say get atlantas defense but also start blount, wouldn't it be counter productive to start both?, how do you go about handling starting defenses and playing players on the opposite team of your defense?....and i missed out on carpenter and giants defense, i had 8th waiver, and they were both takin before my turn came up just a few minutes ago.....so i got falcons, should i still start blount?...also i need every point possible, my opponete is playing charles/ap against oakland/zona defenses, and rivers/clayton/gates against houston defense, so he's looking at a huge week, i'll probable lose....it seems like it would be hard for 2 running backs to produce big numbers in a game, becuase if both teams run the ball, it kills clock, and if one team gets a lead, the other will start passing, plus if i have atl defense, seems like i would limit my points starting turner/blount/atl defense in the same game. they have buffalo defense against chicago on the wire?, i think atlanta is the better option......also since my opponette is starting so many players on sd against houston, would it be a good stratagy to drop folk for whoever's kicking balls for sd?

dang, that turned into a not so quick question, lol...would appriciate your thoughts whenever you have time.

I think I would go with Eli Manning, just because Vick is not playing 100% and could be knocked out with one big hit. Manning is your solid choice, but Vick does have the bigger point potential this week, so I would say it depends on how bad you need this win. I would go with Manning personally, I am a fan of consistency.

Thanks for your help on my topic, and I hope this helps.

TheWarlocks post doesn't make much sense ....

However - Vick is the must start imo. He has way more upside with his versatile ability. If DeSean Jackson does get the nod at well, its a no brainer. If Jackson is benched - then I still say the margin between the two shrinks, but Vick will still get the nod. I like his matchup better, and he is @ home.
