1st. Have someone that wants to trade me Peyton Hillis for Philip Rivers (he had Romo and now without a QB) - I proposed Roethlisberger but he wants Rivers. **I think I'm fine because Roethlisberger I feel will put up similar numbers and Hillis could really help since R. Mathews has been pretty much a bust for me this year. Please let me know your thoughts, should I trade Rivers for Hillis.
2nd. I want to trade Steven Jackson and Mendenhall for Chris Johnson - I wouldn't do this unless I accept the first trade. **I feel Jackson is solid but will never give me the big game and Mendenhall does nothing each week except has one long run that makes him a decent fantasy RB and I think it's got to end. With Moss going to Tenn I think Chris Johnson is going to explode and with him on a bye and being a bit down I think this is the best chance at getting him. My questions is should I trade Jackson and Mendenhall for Chris Johnson and do you think the other owner would bite?
Thanks and WHIR
Players I have QB-Rivers and Roethlisberger RB - S. Jackson, R. Mendenhall, R. Matthews, Fred Jackson, Michael Bush, Mike Tolbert WR - P. Harvin, Hines Ward, Mike Williams (TB), holding on to V. Jackson
Standard non PPR TD=6 pts everyone 1 pt per 10 yds run and rec 1 pt per 30 pass yds Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR/TE Flex, 1 TE, 1 Def, 1 K
If you can do the Chris Johnson trade for sure then pull the trigger on both. So you would have to pull off a double trade at the same time. If you cannot get the Chris Johnson trade then I would not do the Hillis trade. Big Ben plays in cold weather and every year they run run run. Rivers is nice and warm and u have Mendy already.
I agree that River/Hillis is a bit lopsided. But, if it helps your team, than it doesn't really matter.
Personally, I would hold your ground, and try to give up Ben for Hillis. This seems more in line with trade value. He is the depserate one, not you.
If you can get it done, then, yes, I would take CJ/Hillis over Mendenhall/SJax. And, as to whether the other owner would bite, totally dependent upon his RB depth. Either way, you are in good shape if you can get the deal done.
I would still consider Rivers for Hillis, but would like it a lot more for Ben. I probably would turn it down for Rivers unless you have a commitment from the CJ deal.
I love Hillis, but Big Ben for him seems like a fairer trade. Hillis hasn't proven himself as a lead back for an entire season, and his style of running seems vulnerable to injury. Though I disagree with one above poster that Pitt just runs runs runs in cold weather. All you need to do is look at the game logs from last season to see that's not true. And his 500+ yard December game against the Packers was a 1-man fantasy playoff wrecking crew.
If you can turn around and get a trade for CJ after that, go for it. Though I'd be a little concerned about your flex spot. It's true that CJ can hit the home runs that SJax or Mendy aren't providing. But if you consider your entire starting lineup, looking at SJax, Mendy, Hillis vs CJ, Hillis, and Mathews (or your #3 WR) it gets a lot closer.
