Should I trade for Moreno?

Postby kswiss » Mon Nov 08, 2010 12:58 pm

I'm looking to upgrade my Flex position with a more stable running back. I am looking to make a 2 for 1 trade with the last place team in the league because I feel he might be the only person who would give up a good player for more depth. I really want to ditch Wes Welker because he has been lost targets over the last 3 weeks and hasn't scored since week2. I also want to get rid of Torain before Portis comes back and shares time.

He has Moreno, Matthews, and Tolbert, along with Donald Brown and Jason Snelling. I want to try and trade my Wes Welker and Ryan Torain for Moreno. Moreno looks to have an easy schedule for the rest of the year. Is he really in position to make an impact the rest of the year? Or does Welker have enough upside in him for the rest of the year? Should I look at getting Matthews or Tolbert?

League: 12 team H2H, standard scoring, 0.5 ppr
My Team:
QB: Carson Palmer
WR: Greg Jennings, Mike Williams, Mike Wallace
RB: Frank Gore, Arian Foster
TE: Jacob Tamme
Flex: Ryan Torain
Bench: Wes Welker, Michael Crabtree, Felix Jones, Mike Thomas, Matthew Stafford

First things first, two for one trades are always tricky as you are basically hoping that the other owner is dumb enough to trade quality for quantity. It rarely works unless the other owner is either new to FF or has a history of making panic/knee jerk reactions. YOU are acknowledging that Welker is NOT performing like a #1 WR and that Torain will likely be playing backup again once Portis is back on the field (likely to happen in week 11). YOU are fully aware that the FF outlook for these players is grim and you are hoping/assuming that the other owner doesn't read the same information that is available to you and everyone else. Chances are that the other owner DOES in fact know exactly what you know and therefor you aren't going to "pull the wool over his eyes." I doubt you can "snooker" him into taking 2 players based solely on what they did previously (in Torain) and projected (in Welker).

Second, you listed his RB's but not his full roster. I understand that you are giving him 2 players that will likely help hm but we really need his full roster to truly put ourselves in the other guys shoes to see if we'd make the trade (or to help you adjust your offer so that he may accept it). If you are offering him2 guys that will be starters on his tea fr just one current starter on his team AND tat the likely FF points generated from the 2 players you are giving him vs his one current starter (Moreno) and his scrub WR that Welker will replace is a good bit higher, only then does it really make sense for him to make the trade. Remember, if a trade makes YOU a good bit better but me only marginally better then why would I make the trade???

If you want one of his best players in a 2 for one deal then I think you are going to really have to knock his socks off with the 2 players you are giving him. A player likely to become the backup in 2 weeks and a player under performing just doesn't seem like enough to me.
This aint a NYC auto garage, if it aint broke, dont fix it.
