Drop Schaub? WHIR

Postby BearsFan65 » Tue Nov 09, 2010 6:20 pm

EDIT: Would be interested in answers anyway, but just found that Schaub is on the Yahoo can't cut list. WTF? How is this determined, anyway?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12 team PPR league. Start QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, DST, K. My roster:

QB - E Manning, M Schaub
RB - A Peterson, A Foster, F Jones
WR - R White, M Austin, M Floyd, P Crayton, S Rice
TE - G Olsen
DEF - NYJets
K - D Carpenter

Eli's schedule the rest of the way: DAL, @PHI, JAX, WAS, @MIN, PHI, GB. Should I be dropping Schaub for WR help? Lots easier to say who can be picked up once waivers clear tonight, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't be doing this to take a chance on someone like Jacoby Ford, James Jones, or even VJax if somehow he falls down to my waiver spot (11th).

Second question: is dropping Felix for Derrick Ward the right move, given how messed up the Cowboys are? I see Choice getting a legitimate chance at that job, and since I only start someone else if one of my starters gets hurt, I think I want the handcuff here. WHIR, thanks!

Not sure exactly which of the powers that be at Yahoo select the can't cut list, but the only real way around it is to not use it as a criteria and police the league yourself. I think it's a questionable drop in most cases, but certainly not one that should be disallowed. That said, I think Crayton is a better drop. Houston will figure things out in the passing game, and even if Schaub isn't top-5 material you might be able to trade him after a big game or two.

Crayton is pretty much worthless when Floyd and Jackson come back, so I'd look to drop him before Schaub. Go after VJax with that ww priority, but know you'll probably miss on him. James Jones is an attractive option as long as Driver is out, but I think Ford is a wait-'n'-see in all but the deepest of leagues (he had a number of fluky catches and the KO return make up most of his points after all).

I would keep Felix and see how things shake out in Dallas at this point. I still think he's their most talented back, and other than injury concerns, I don't think he gets passed by Choice as anything worse than a timeshare, in which case he's still the guy I want if you put a gun to my head.

Hope this helps ;-D

I am the commish in a Yahoo league and there are tools that the commish can use to drop players on any team in the league, if that is the route you want to take.

What I would do is drop P. Crayton and pick up either S. Rice or Jacoby Ford. Find a team that is week at QB or needs a quality backup and trade Schaub for the best RB2 he/she has before the deadline. Schaub has been on the decline lately but has value and name recognition from last season, too valuable to drop in my opinion.

take a look at this if you have time: viewtopic.php?t=484646
