Should I make this trade?

Postby j2the3rd » Tue Nov 09, 2010 6:54 pm

Ok, some background:

- PPR league, start 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 TE, 1 WR, 2 Flex WR/RB
- In second place right now
- Here's my roster: Schaub (QB), AP (RB), Arian Foster (Flex RB), Gates (TE) and some shaky WRs (Bowe, Collie, Welker and Breaston... also just picked up V. Jax from waivers).

I also have Tamme as a TE right now (in the trade offer).

So the trade offer is this:

L. McCoy for Tamme

Now I have the top 2 RBs in the league right now and McCoy is 5th (maybe 6th).

We can only start one TE for any week.

So the dilemma is Gates injury and if it will hamper him after the bye.

So my choice is having 3 of the top 5/6 RBs in the league and rolling the dice that Gates will be fine OR rolling with what I have and hoping my WRs pick up the slack.... Collie seems out for at least another week or two, Welker has just disappointed from a PPR perspective and Bowe has been coming on, but he's Bowe....

Really unsure what to do here, keep the depth and end up having a good TE on the bench each week or get a bonafide every week starter and hope Gates will be ok.

All opinions appreciated and WHIR, post your links....

Gates has the bye this week and most people expect him to be back for week 11. I would risk it with Gates because he played fine even when he was a little hurt a few weeks ago. Trade seems good for you.

I would also do the trade because with that RB corps, it would offset your bad WRs big time. And as insurance, maybe think of grabbing Randy McMichael just in case Gates' injury continues to hamper him. He caught 2 TDs last week in his absence.

I'm assuming you'll want to put V.Jax in at WR over all the others. Expect him to come out hot. He's going for the big money next year. Gates has torn plantar fascia on the bottom of his foot which doesn't just heal up fast. Tamme should produce well as a sub for now. Bowe is not that much of a step down from McCoy in terms of upside for your second flex spot. Now, consistently week in and week out might be a different story. I don't think I would do the trade. P.S. See my link. I have Schaub too...isn't he disappointing???!!!

H2H Non-PPR 1RB/2WR No Flex 12 Team League

QB(1)- Schaub, Flacco
RB(1)- Rice, S. Jackson, Forte, Jones-Drew
WR(2)-R. Moss, C. Johnson, Jennings
TE(1)- Z. Miller, Watson
D/ST(1)- Broncos, Dolphins
K(1)- Reed

I think it might be worth the risk, or at least after you land McCoy you can turn around and trade him for an upgrade at WR.

Pull the trigger and don't look back. Great trade.

I'd do it. That would be such a good RB core. Gates should be fine after the bye, and we all saw that he can still get TD's even when he is hurt. If I were you, I'd pick up Randy McMichael in case Gates can't come back. McMichael is somewhat like Tamme. With such a good QB throwing his way, he will get his yards. Whoever Rivers TE is, he will get yards. So pull the trigger, and just in case Gates does have to sit out for some time, pick up McMichael as an fall back option.

I would make this trade as well - should help your team. Thanks for the help on mine (edited to White for Foster if you want to chime in).

Thanks for the help.

I would NOT do this trade if I were you. I have Gates as well and I am very concerned about that foot. Keep Tamme, that way you are insured of having a top 5 TE starting, regardless. I like Tamme alot, he's already more valuable than McCoy...
