Drop DeAngelo Williams for McGahee? WHIR 100%

Postby markulous » Tue Nov 09, 2010 9:11 pm

Am I crazy for thinking of dropping DeAngelo Williams for McGahee(I have Ray Rice)? Other than this week(which it looks like he might not even play), his only good matchup the rest of the year is week 15 against ARI. Even when faced with favorable matchups at home this year where he got a good amount of carries, he still couldn't amount to crap.

It's PPR. We start 2 RB, 3 WR/TE, 1 RB/WR/TE. My roster is:

RB: Ray Rice, Foster, Torain, DWill
WR/TE: Nicks, Calvin Johnson, Gates, MWill(TB), VJax, Sidney Rice

DWill's schedule as follows:
@ TB (decent matchup, may not play)
vs. BAL (bad matchup)
@ CLE (bad matchup)
@ SEA (could be good, SEA plays good at home though)
vs. ATL (bad matchup)
vs. ARI (good matchup
@ PIT (bad matchup)
@ ATL (bad matchup)

Even if by some miracle, CAR turns it around and becomes a decent team(which is unlikely), I don't think he's any better than a flex play.

With Carolina's wr cop not adding up to what they thought it might be and Moore getting knocked out for a year, I'd take a look at how Fox adjusts. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't heavily turn to the running game. Hang tight and see what happens. You have a great roster and the time to see what develops.

Please help

I don't think there is anyway you can make this move. Even with how bad DeAngelo has been he is still the starter and will get the opportunity to turn it around. McGahee is a good backup running back but a backup none the less. Also if DeAngelo can come close to what he has done in the past he will be a much better option than McGahee

How many teams is this league?
I'd be more inclined to drop Vincent Jackson or Sidney Rice, grab McGahee for the short term, and stash DeAngelo just in case he remembers how to run the ball.

With the roster settings, it looks like you'd be playing 3 RBs, and 2 WR and a healthy Gates or simply 3 WRs. So you have the covered with Nicks, Megatron and TB Mike Williams. One of VJax or S. Rice seems expendable.

It's a 12 team league. I thought about starting McGahee in my flex week 11 since BAL plays CAR(Torain plays TEN and MWill plays SF that week). But other than that he'd be a handcuff.

I'm 7-2 and tied for the best record in the league and I'm leading the league in points by a good margin(120 pts to the next guy). I figured VJax and Rice both have a TON of upside. If they are able to get it going they'd be fighting for my flex spot with MWill and prevent others from playing them against me.

I think if you are considering the "playing the players I drop against me" aspect for Rice and VJax, than you have to consider that when/if dropping DeAngelo. He's shown in his career that he is a huge talent.

True. Maybe I'll hold off for a bit. With the short week especially, I'm hoping McGahee will still be on waivers next week.

That's tough. I think I'd keep DeAngelo though. The "Do nothing approach" might be better in this case.

Help me with mine? viewtopic.php?f=19&t=484670
