Large Dynasty Keeper Trade (WHIR)

Postby VIKINGFAN » Thu Nov 11, 2010 9:57 pm

I am in a deep roster 12 team dynasty keeper league, I am pretty much eliminated from the playoffs. And have some nice trading chips to contenders as they stack there teams for a title push. Our league has a 30rd draft, 6 OFFENSE players are allowed to be kept yearly. Every year there keeper/draft slot moves up 4 rds. An owner is willing to deal me TE-J.Finley (who is lost for the season) but sits at an excellent 19th rd keeper slot (example he would be 15th rd keeper in 2012, and a 11th rd keeper in 2013?). Means I can practically keep him for probably 3-4 more seasons. The essential meaning of a "Dynasty League" this guy is on the cusp of become the next Antonio Gates.......Would anyone do the following deal? or stand pat......

Roster perameters are as follows - starters every week, 2-QB 2-RB 4-WR 2-TE 2-K 2-DL 2-LB 2-DB and a 12 man bench.

I TRADE AWAY:
QB - M.Sanchez (non keeper)
TE - Z.Miller (3rd keeper slot)
WR - James Jones (13th rd keeper slot)
DB - B.Pollard (13th rd keeper slot)

I RECEIVE BACK:
QB - J.Clausen (7th rd keeper slot) Personally don't think he is worth a keeper. I rather get T.Jackson (14th rd keeper)
TE - J.Finley (19th rd keeper slot) The Centerpiece of the deal, plain and simple.
TE - T.Scheffler (6th rd keeper slot) Don't care about his keeper slot, he is just a fill in for the rest of the season.
WR - Jacoby Jones (8th rd keeper slot) Just a fill in player for me, I already have enough serviceable WR.

We keep 6 Offensive Players If I get this deal above completed, my keepers would sit as follows
WR - D.Bryant (5th rd keeper slot)
WR - J.Knox (11th rd keeper slot)
WR - S.Rice (12th rd keeper slot)
RB - P.Hillis (15th rd keeper slot)
QB - V.Young (16th rd keeper slot)
TE - J.Finely (19th rd keeper slot)

LB - C.Greenway (25th rd keeper slot)
LB - EJ.Henderson (26th rd keeper slot)

I guess it depends on how much you value Mark Sanchez going forward the next few years. In my opinion the only players in the trade to really worry about are Finley and Sanchez. Tough call but the upside of getting Finley on the cheap for years to come might help you win championships for years. I do hope you have a better QB then Vince Young. Good luck!

Generally speaking the top talent is never "keeper eligible" cause they are selected in the first 4 rds. Sanchez is not keeper eligible.......Like I said, I am out of the playoffs and traded Eli Manning (non keeper) for V.Young (16th rd keeper) earlier in the year. So I have been retooling and rebuilding my club for years to come, after this terrible season.

Bottom Line, getting Finley in a Dynasty League is GOLDEN!!!

Thanks for the help with mine. I agree, this deal is good for you. Finley is a huge bargain at 19, and basically a keeper for 3-4 years. The old adage is true - whoever got the best player in the deal got the best of the trade. Good luck!
