Donald Driver Future?

Postby Flyn high again » Tue Nov 16, 2010 4:50 pm

Did a search and didn't find a Donald Driver thread so...

Word out of Green Bay is James Jones may have replaced Donald Driver as WR2 on the Packers. Driver missed practice Monday for "personal" reasons.

I see two options that would have Driver missing practice.

1. Quadriceps injury is still bothering him.
2. Coach informed him of bad news (benching?)

Option 1 seems more likely to be reported as out Monday due to "injury". Option 2 seems more likely to be reported as out due to "personal" reasons.

This is speculation on my part. I already grabbed Jones in one league and am letting you guys know so you can pick him up or at least keep an eye on the situation. If Jones has passed Driver on the depth chart, he will be one of the most picked up free agents this week. We should learn more after Wednesday's practice.

I own both Driver and James Jones. Due to some roster congestion, I'll have to cut one this week. I'm dropping Driver. I'm trying to trade him first, but if I can't get a nibble, then I'm cutting him outright later this week.

Jones is still flying under the radar. I don't know why he isn't getting more interest. Last week showed that even with Driver back, he will still get targets. I'm not starting him yet but he's on my roster.

A friend who is a rabid Packer fan told me Jones can be inconsistent. IDK, he's looked pretty good the last couple weeks.

Hmmm...very interesting.

Thanks for the heads-up. Info like this can win Super Bowls. Definitely sounds like he's worth a speculatory pick-up...

Another Packer fan here.

Yes, he is WILDLY inconsistent. One game he looks like the 2nd coming of Jerry Rice, next game he'll drop 2 balls right in the breadbasket.

If Driver is benched (which the local media isn't talking too much about yet), Jones is a great pickup. Jordy Nelson is usually a 3rd or 4th read for Rogers. And the fill-in TEs suck - they couldn't catch a cold.
