Should I Trade Vick Or Eli? (WHIR ASAP!!!)

Postby ICanGoAllTheWay » Wed Nov 17, 2010 5:21 am

Help me out here, I have both Eli and Vick. I really want to trade one of them. I'm 5-5 and my team is pretty complete, but like any team, it could use some improvement. Here's my lineup:
QB: Vick
RB: Turner
RB: MJD
FLEX: ??? (Mathews, Torain, Ronnie Brown, Garcon, Steve Johnson)
WR: Nicks
WR: Boldin
TE: Petigrew
DST: Saints
K: Matt Bryant

BNCH: Eli Manning, Mathews, Torain, Ronnie Brown, Garcon, Steve Johnson, Keiland Williams

I can't get a whole lot for Eli, whereas I can probably get a premier #1 RB for Vick. I have a pretty big hole at my flex spot with the injuries to Torain and Mathews. All I can probably get for Eli is Vernon Davis or Tamme. Which would be a modest upgrade at TE. If I trade Vick I may be able to get Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson. I would maybe even be able to do something like Vick and Steve Johnson for CJ and Terell Owens.

What lineup looks better:
QB: Vick
RB: Turner
RB: MJD
FLEX: Mathews/Torain/Garcon/Johnson
WR: Nicks
WR: Boldin
TE: Vernon Davis or Tamme (whichever one I choose to trade Eli for)
DST: Saints
K: Bryant

or

QB: Eli
RB: Turner
RB MJD
Flex: Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson (which ever one I choose to trade Vick for)
WR: Nicks
WR: Boldin
TE: Petigrew
DST: Saints
K: Bryant

What do you guys think? And if you prefer one, who do you think is beter, Tamme or Davis, or AP or CJ. And if you have any other suggestions let me know. Leave a link and i'll help back.

Assuming a standard scoring system, I'd rather have the lineup with Vick.

By CBS's scoring, he's putting up mid-20's a game, whereas Eli is around 18/game, the elite RBs are at around 16/game and middle-of-the road WRs like Johnson are around 8/game.

Translation: You gain about 7/week by having Vick instead of Eli, which in addition to the upgrade at TE trumps the 8/week difference between an elite RB and a normal flex play.

Go for an Eli for Tamme/Davis kind of deal, and maybe even see if you can include Pettigrew for a backup QB in the deal so that you still have a little depth at QB even though it won't be of the same caliber as Eli.

Great insight. Yeah I calculated it out, and I think the Vick/Johnson/Vernon Davis yields similar projections to Eli/CJ/Pettigrew, but I think Vick has the potential to go off more than someone like CJ. If I had to bet on either Vick or CJ getting near 40, i'd put my money on Vick.

Keep Vick...PLEASE! :-)

He's so good right now, he gets rushing yards and Eli turns the ball over too much...too risky.

Your team looks pretty good - I can't beleive you're at 5-5.

I also have vick (but I don't carry a backup QB) and I am telling you Vick is the hottest commodity right now. Everyone is drooling over him and you can get anyone you want for him. My problem is that all the pundents are singing his praises and that never bodes well for the future - especially this year for some reason.

I'd stick with Eli and trade Vick for everything you can - Maybe Vick & Pettigrew for AP & Tamme (or some similar trade). Eli is more of a sure thing and is at a lower risk for injury, but Vick can score enough points for you to make up any points lost due to under performing players.

I guess I would rather spread the risk out.

After calculating it out, the vick deal does seem to benefit. But my average for Eli may be too low, I think for the last few weeks he has been well over 20. But Vick always has the potential to go for 30+.
Vick = 28
Johnson = 12
Vernon Davis/Tamme = 10
Total = 50

Eli = 19
CJ or AP = 18
Pettigrew = 5
Total = 42

I think Vick will be better over the rest of the year as well, but I think you can get more for Vick than Eli...so it's kind of a toss up.

If you can get AD or Chris Johnson for Eli...then I'd do that in a heartbeat

thanks for the help with mine

I'd stick with Vick and try and trade Eli for a TE. Steve Johnson is a great fit for your Flex spot and you shouldn't really be too worried about depth anymore. Sure CJ/AP will be an upgrade but Vick's average and upside is a lot higher than Eli and I'm not sure you're gaining much by trading Vick compared to the other trade.
