Mario Manningham is available on the waiver wire in my league. Do you think he's a better option moving forward than Steve Smith (CAR), Deion Branch, or Lance Moore, all of whom are on my roster?
I beat everyone else in our league to Manningham as a FA when I heard about Smith getting hurt last week. His 10/91/1 line helped me to a win over the league leader. Smith is out at least two more weeks, and it's still not certain that he'll return at that time. If you're fighting to make the playoffs, Manningham is a must-add, dropping either Moore or Branch. If you're comfortably in the playoffs, I think he's still valuable, but his peak value is in the next two weeks. If Smith returns at 100%, then Manningham goes back to playing about half the snaps. If for some reason Smith is out for a longer period of time, you've got a solid starting WR in any format. I'd grab him without hesitation. Good luck!
OK, I picked up Manningham. I didn't end up dropping Branch or Moore, though, because DeAngelo Williams just got put on IR today, so I dropped him instead.
Now I'm considering picking up Mike Goodson at RB, though, since Williams is out. Given the following list of RBs and WRs on my roster, do you think it's worth dropping Moore or Branch and picking up Goodson?
RBs: Rice, Benson, Hillis, Brandon Jackson, Ronnie Brown WRs: Calvin Johnson, Maclin, Steve Smith (CAR), Manningham, Branch, Moore
We start 2 WRs, 2 RBs, and one flex in my league. I think I'm weaker at WR than RB. I'm fighting for a playoff spot...I need to win out basically.
Drop Steve Smith(CAR). Just get it over with and don't look back. He has less value than Moore going forward without a doubt. Branch MAY get it going again. Steve smith, will not.
That's true, but I just realized that Reggie Bush is coming back, so speculation is that Moore will see a much-reduced role in the New Orleans offense. So maybe he's even less valuable than Steve Smith at this point. I don't know...
