Here's a new one. Can you guarentee a player?

Postby chchelse » Wed Nov 17, 2010 4:54 pm

The manager of my league called this afternoon to ask this question: Is it okay to make a trade and guarantee them that the traded player will score at least 15 points that week, or they will reverse the trade the following week?

I replied that it opens up a can of worms and should be avoided.

Any input?

Should be illegal. Here's why.

Renting players is illegal in most leagues. However, by using an impossible guarantee I can effectively rent a player to another manager. For example, I could rent out Phillip Rivers to another team by setting the guarantee to 300 points. He would obviously never reach that and would return to me the next week.

Who thinks of this stuff? Obviously you can't do that. Definition of collusion - any action that doesn't benefit your team. Why would you put a guarantee in your trade? How does that help your team? You trade the player and then he's the other guy's problem if he only scores 3 points.

Absolutle nonsense. The fact they are trying to push this stuff through tells me they are regularly working behind the scenes to upset fair and competitive balance. Get out of that league.

Everybody in this league is terrified of making a trade. I think it was an attempt to get a trade done by assuring that the traded player would produce or he would take him back.

It's player renting, and should not be allowed.
