Mike Williams (TB) arrested for DUI

Postby HomerJay » Fri Nov 19, 2010 8:42 am

Bucs WR Mike Williams was arrested Friday morning in Hillsborough County on a DUI charge.

It's horrible timing for a young 6-3 Bucs team. Two tests found Williams' blood-alcohol level to be .065 and .061, below the limit of .08 in Florida. He did fail his field sobriety test, however, and a urine test was conducted to see if he was impaired by a substance other than alcohol. Williams remains in jail as of Friday morning, with the Bucs set to leave for San Francisco later in the day. The fourth-rounder was considered a first-round talent, but he fell due to a litany of off-field concerns at Syracuse. Nov. 19 - 8:02 am et

Does this mean I might need a replacement at WR this week, or is he still a go in SF?

tough to say....him hitching a ride on the plane may help. We'll have to wait and see. I'm more curious about how his urinalysis turned out...he maybe in for some extended time out.

and there ya go

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Mike Williams will start Sunday's game at San Francisco despite his Friday morning DUI arrest.

Either Williams passed his urine test, or the Bucs are coming up with whatever excuse possible to get him in the lineup. They'll need him. Tampa doesn't project to have a ton of success on the ground against the 49ers' top-ten run defense, and San Francisco is vulnerable in the back end. Ranked 15th among fantasy wideouts, Williams can safely be penciled into lineups. Nov. 19 - 1:23 pm et
