How should I deal with injuries at WR?

Postby taw856 » Sun Nov 21, 2010 10:33 pm

Several of my wide receivers have left games early and/or missed practices in the last couple weeks, and it's making me unsure who to keep/drop...

From this list that includes both rostered players and waiver wire/free agent options at WR, please pick five (three to start Wk.12 plus two to stash on my bench for the playoffs Wks. 15-16):

Calvin Johnson (vNE-23.89 ... @TB-20.33, @MIA-18.20)
Brandon Marshall (@OAK-16.78 ... vBUF-18.89, vDET-18.78)
Hines Ward (@BUF-18.89 ... vNYJ-22.44, vCAR-15.44)
Chad Ochocinco (@NYJ-22.44 ... vCLE-24.11, vSD-11.56)
Vincent Jackson (@IND-19.67 ... vSF-20.78, @CIN-18.78)
Mike Williams (vKC-20.56 ... vATL-26.67, @TB-20.33)
Deion Branch (@DET-18.78 ... vGB-18.89, @BUF-18.89)
Derrick Mason (vTB-20.33 ... vNO-9.33, @CLE-24.11)
David Gettis (@CLE-24.11 ... vAZ-23.22, @PIT-21.00)

(Wk. 12, ... Wk. 15, Wk. 16 schedule in parenthesis. ##'s are fantasy pts/wk. that defense allows to WRs thru Wk. 10)

Thanks for the help on mine. Week 12 I think I'd start Megatron, Brandon Marshall, and Vincent Jackson. I'm a little hesitant about Jackson his first week back but I don't see any reason why he can't succeed right of the bat. I think they all have good matchups both next week and during the playoffs I'd probably sit Ocho and Mike Williams on my bench. I might consider Ward over Williams because of that nice Carolina game but those two are pretty much a wash. Good luck!

In Order:
Hines
Baby TO
Megatron
Chad
Vincent (I know I don't like this either...)
2 Stashes
Deion Branch
and Mike WIlliams (assuming he isn't injured...)
Derrick Mason would be next

Ok lets see here. It seems like you are a lock to make the playoffs? I will be basing most of my advice around that, as it looks like you have a sick team to begin with.

i would say:

Say for the 3 week 12 starts:
Megatron and Marshall for sure, easy.

Now, its between Chad, Jackson, or Mike WIlliams, Hines. Don't like Jackson in his first game back, don't like mike williams against KC and I don't like Ochocinco against the Jets... if it weren't for the fact TO would be drawing the coverage. So I woud day Megatron, Marshall, and TO, but that last slot is very debata ble.

Stashes:
Has to be VJax, and then whoever you didnt like as much above, I'm thinking most likely HInes or M. Williams.

I agree, you have some complicated choices to make here I hope this helps some. The good news is your team is pretty STACKED so regardless, I think you'll do well!

Help me out?
thanks!

FWIW, CBS Week 12 projections are out and they have this group at:

Ca. Johnson - 12.8
V. Jackson - 9.8

C. Ochocinco - 8.8
H. Ward - 7.0
D. Mason - 6.4
