Didn't wanna pollute leftovers with this, someone might get angry - but this game... I've been able to keep all my frustration in thus far (sooo much better at that than I used to be), but I have to mash on my keyboard real quick. I have 1469 points in one of my money leagues (a pretty impressive 133/week), which is about 100 ahead of the next highest scorer. My points against is a whopping 1485. I'm 5-6, and MIGHT squeak into the playoffs. And in a cafe league, I lost 178-170 this week - Thanks Matt. I'm frustrated. Grr. Ok I'm done.
This is my last year playing money leagues. I have the #1 QB, top ten RB, top 15 RB, two or three top ten WRs, the top TE, the top DEF and a top ten Kicker. I lead my league by over 100 points in points scored.
I'm 6-5.
I could go back years and years - like, all through Tomlinson's career - and show how I've been the top-scoring team or in the top three for several years in a row, and yet haven't even made the playoffs. My best finish ever with Tomlinson and a pair of top five WRs (Steve Smith the year he came back and I think Houshmandzadeh) was second. I never even finished in the money in my other league, not one time.
It is far too arbitrary to continue to throw money away on fantasy football when, despite having the best team, your chances of winning are basically a coin flip.

your flip failed. Please send your coin to me, scottaa1, c/o Fantasy Football Cafe.
I stopped money leagues as well several years ago. I do it now just for the fun of it, and it keeps me more interested in other teams and in stats and such during the season. It's still frustrating though, as all the points you made above are ones I'm all too familiar with.
One of my RL friends, we'll call him Troy, by week 8 is always saying 'next year, remind me not to play FF again' and by week 10 I'm saying the same thing. But of course by May we're both signed back up, eager to get back to it. It's insidious. But it's fun. Sometimes.
I just climbed from dead last to 4th, but now have to play an undefeated team this week. I sure hope it comes out on the fun side of the coin.
One of my leagues, 18 teams in 2 divisions, I started out 0-3 despite being the second highest scoring team in my division and third highest overall - that gets depressing! At least I'm at 7-4 now with a decent shot at making the playoffs.
