Do I need a Temp QB Until Eli Gets Nicks & Smith Back (WHIR)

Postby ICanGoAllTheWay » Tue Nov 23, 2010 5:31 pm

Ok so I have Eli as my starting QB, and he no longer has Nicks or Smith for about 3 weeks (which isn't too bad because i'll likely make the playoffs and my playoffs don't start til week 15, so nicks and smith should be back by then). One guy in my league has Orton and Peyton, so I was thinking of offering Boldin for Orton. Here's my lineup:

QB: Eli
RB: Turner
RB: MJD
Flex: Peterson
WR: Maclin
WR: Sidney Rice or Boldin (because Nicks is out)
TE: Vernon Davis

Bench: Nicks (out), Ronnie Brown, Keiland Williams, Ryan Torain, Garcon

I'm getting real tired of Boldin having these bad games. Last week he had his 4th game of 3 points or less. Most weeks he is good for 50 yards and a TD, but it seems like once every 3 weeks he does nothing. I have Maclin and Rice to fill in while Nicks is out. And I honestly have more faith in Rice than Boldin at this point. Last week Rice had 10 targets, so I think Favre starts to get him the ball. Not only could I use Orton for the next 3 weeks while Eli has no one to throw to, but Eli has a tough week 16 opponent (@ GB), where as Orton has Houston in week 16. So basically I can play the matchup between Eli and Orton once Eli gets Smith and Nicks back.

My other options are to just stick it out with Eli. In all honesty I think Eli is a good QB, but unless your Peyton or Brady, if you lose your top 2 WR's, you're going to struggle. I also have the options of picking up Bradford, Hill and Fitz off the waiver wire. The thing is I need to win at least one game in the next two remaining games I have. Here are the scheds for the QB's this week:

Eli: Jags
Hill: Pats
Orton: Rams

Eli definitely has a nice matchup against a terrible Jags pass defense. Hill does too, and I like him on a short week, giving Bellecik last time to prepare. Orton also has a really nice matchup at home. Is it worth giving up Boldin to rent Orton and only use him for two or three games. Or do you think I need Boldin more than ever because Nicks is out. Losing Nicks really sucks, because not only do I not have my stud WR, but my QB's value drops dramatically too. I basically lost two starters with the Nicks injury.

Leave a link and i'll help back.

eli has a great match-up, i'd start eli, and i'd also start boldin.

i sat boldin for james jones last week, cus it was a bad match-up, but i'm starting him this week. and boldin also has a great playoff schedule. boldin will be you and my best wr come playoff time.

I agree stand pat. If you will make the playoffs already, then you are set.
