Trading for SJax

Postby dblj9911 » Tue Nov 30, 2010 4:47 pm

My team is in 1st place, playing the 2nd place team, AP is banged up, my # 2 rb is match up hell each week. Was going to offer Steve Johnson and my 1st rd rookie pick for his SJax should I try and get his 2nd rd pick or trade his 2nd for my 2nd (goes in reverse order in each rd from finish 10th place team picks 1st, etc). 10 team dynasty league, standard scoring, 6pt all td's, 0.5ppr, 25 man roster, keep the same team, 3 rd rookie / free agent draft each year. Thanks for looking, WHIR

I don't think I would do this. I am worried that Megatron's production is going to drop with Stanton at QB...I'm in the same situation with him.

I just think that while you improve in one place, you will just decline in another.

I'm not too familiar with dynasty leagues so I'm afraid I'm not much help but just wanted to give some feedback since you helped me.

To the extent I have any thoughts, it's that I wouldn't be so sure SJax over Stevie is such a huge upgrade in a long-term looking league. SJax is clearly worth more now, but backs can wear out quickly and he might be just starting to reach the tipping point of his career (I'm not alarmist, that may just mean he puts up RB2 numbers instead of RB1 numbers for the next 2-3 years.) whereas Stevie's value should only rise in the same time period.

Again, grain of salt as I'm used to playing redraft leagues, but my instinct would be to be careful about giving up too much additionally in draft pick compensation for an SJax upgrade that might be less large than you expect.

i would sell high on johnson and get sjax. benson is fa next year and looks as if he wont be back with the bengals. sjax will still be the work horse for a few more year yet and with the ram's line and qb and wr improving should open up more holes for him to run.
