So, there is a team in one of my leagues that needs a big win this week BUT also needs a big loss to make the playoffs. This is a 2 QB league.

This team dropped Matt Schaub today. The reason is he has Eli Manning and Drew Brees. The team he needs to lose is playing the team with the most waiver money left and has Delhomme playing in one of his slots. He dropped Schaub basically in order to give the other team a better QB to help beat the team he needs to lose.

My take is this is a creative way to help your team get to the playoffs. I don't see a huge probelm with it but it has blown up into a huge deal in this league with people threatening to quit on both sides.

Here's the funny thing though, Matt Schuab is only decent this year and he is playing the Ravens. Will he even be a huge help?

Anyway, the real question here is: Is this move a move that should be cancelled?

I think it's rather clever. As long as the drop and pick up break no league rules, the owners should be allowed to continue.

I hate to say it, but this is savvy. I have had a playoff spot/bye locked up for several weeks, and have been filling my bench with players that have hurt teams that I don't want to see come playoff time (wk 15 for me). Nothing wrong here.

You can't force him to keep a player he isn't going to use. It's a smart move and should be allowed.

I agree. Though I would still want to take him out back and beat the cleaverness out of him :-b

BTW, no one is actually saying it breaks any rules, people are saying it's unethical, against the value of fair play etc....

How is it unethical? Does the owner need Schaub? U mentioned that he doesn't, and he has a bad match-up.

He does NOT need Schaub. Brees and Eli are in his starting line up this week. He also has Henne with great playoff matchups. I just don't get the uproar. I can see the questionability of it but no way it should be getting killed like it is.
