Bench AP for J-Stew? WHIR

Postby jmp14 » Sat Dec 18, 2010 3:13 pm

Please tell me I'm not nuts. This whole Joe Webb thing is making things even worse as the mainstream media is going gaga over this guy as a sneaky WR play. So, what am I supposed to believe? He'll befuddle the Bears, outdoors, in the freezing cold, enough that AP will have a decent game? and that's assuming AP doesn't reinjure himself and give way to Gerhardt?

As it is, I got a whopping 1.4 pts from Vernon Davis Thursday night. I can't afford 'decent' from AP (70 yds, 0 TDs). I need stellar. J-Stew should be able to deliver stellar, right?

leave a link and I'll help you.

There are many good reasons to bench AP this week:

1. Nagging knee and ankle injuries..

2. Inexperienced rookie QB, meaning the Bears' defense will focus strictly on stopping AP, stacking 8 defenders in the box.. might be a long night for AP.. could be one of those 15 carries/40 yards and no TD kind of games.

3. AP is in the Monday Night game, meaning you will have no flexibility to put in Stewart if you decide at the last second that you wanna change your mind. What if they suddenly announce Monday morning that AP will be sitting out the game? Stewart played on Sunday, so now you're screwed... I know Leslie Frazier already said AP will play, but I do not believe anything until I see the player is reported active on the injury report.

4. Stewart has had 2 solid rushing games in a row now.. and on Sunday, he has a great matchup against a terrible Cardinals defense.

I'd usually roll with my studs through thick and thin.. but this week, AP is a big gamble.. it really all comes down to Joe Webb and how well he plays. If he's better than expected, AP may be productive. If he sucks, AP will have nowhere to run..

thanks for the comprehensive reply!

just to address point #3, though, I HAVE handcuffed Gerhardt to AP, so I'd be covered in that respect.

any other thoughts out there?
