I was just wondering about some opinions about Joe Webb. I'm not extremely confident about my WR options (neither Wayne nor Wallace have been consistent) and Webb is listed as a WR,QB making him available to start at WR but get the points for QB. I understand he is a rookie playing in his second game (I'm assuming farve is done) and he is playing the eagles but even with a 2 pick performance last week he still outscored wayne, nicks, and wallace (my normal starting three). The WR I would bench would be Wallace. So, should I roll the dice? Or am I just REALLY over thinking this?
I am struggling with a similar issue... Web could easily put up better numbers then a WR if he plays and has a reasonable day.
I am not sure it is a done deal that Favre is out... So that gave me pause. Given that it is a late start (7:20 Sunday) you would want to have a receiver you could sub in that started at the same time or on Monday just in case Favre plays... I don't think you have that. Unfortunately, Wallace starts on Saturday....
Now for Wallace. I am not so sure he is going to have much of a day. What is the likelihood that Big Ben is going to throw much at all? Pit can run the ball down Carolina's throat all day long and control the football game. That game is likely to be played in the mid 20s with a 30% chance of snow flurries and 10mph+ crosswinds... Doesn't sound like a passing day to me when you can control things on the ground.
In your situation, I think I would risk it with Webb. It would be nice if you had someone (a receiver) in your back pocket who starts Sunday evening or Monday night, just in case Favre has a miraculous recovery. Is there an NO receiver available on the waver wire? (assuming of course that you can sub on Sunday evening before the games starts.
i disagree, id go with Wayne (collie is out), i thought about the same issue with webb, but i think minn is gonna get creamed. fumbles and picks galore.

Lance Moore is a FA i could pick him up as a backup but he is a worse option than nicks wayne or wallace so it is a gamble...
if you don't take the gamble with Webb, do you think you have the game in hand? For me it might come down to only taking the risk on Webb if I felt I needed a big score from him to beat my opponent. If you have the game in hand without him, don't risk it on someone who may not score you very many points.
I'd say it's a coin flip right now (maybe I have a slight edge, thank you Vick) but he has Brees and Brady (we can use a qb in our flex in the league) so he has potential to go big.
I live in MN. You can never count Brett Farve out. He was having a lot of fun Monday night before getting slammed on his dome. Is that how he wants to go out??? Given his history, I personally think he will get out there if he can. BUT....if #4 IS out, I think this is something worth considering (starting Webb). My league has him listed as a QB so I dont have an option to exploit that. A previous poster mentioned fumbles and turn overs but that doesnt matter for a WR...you wont lose points for that. Depending on your scoring system, looking at the top 20 scorers through week 15....13 of them are QB's....NONE of them are receivers. Obviously your scoring system can play into this but my league has a pretty conservative scoring system and the 20th ranked QB is averaging roughly 10pts a game....that is a very decent score for a WR in my league.
I WOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS LOOP HOLE AND START WEBB IF FARVE IS OUT....GOOD LUCK....
So Webb would be your 3rd QB? I'm assuming Vick + someone else in flex? Interesting.
I was over a weather underground to look at the hourly forecasts. You have a 50% chance of snow all day and it drops to 30 sometime around game start.
You might want to keep an eye on the weather tomorrow and see how it is looking... Bad weather + Carolina has a better pass D then run D.... I've said it before... I just don't see this being a big pass day for Ben, especially if they jump out to an early lead (and I think that is likely). So how well will one of his receivers do even if he is the #1 receiver?
I could be way out in left field, but I don't like going with anyone in the Pit air game tomorrow.
yeah he would be my third qb. Crazy right? Actually if you have advice on my 2nd qb i'm trying to decide between Tebow and Eli. Tebow has the better matchup but Eli is Eli and one of the reasons I'm playing for the championship. And I agree about pitts passing game. Carolina gives up the run and thats what the steelers want to do.
Oh, and in the interest of full disclosure... I am NOT playing web as of now, but I think my options are a bit different from yours.
I have two slots where I could play him. In place of Woodhead, or in place of Fred Jackson. Also, in order to have a comfortable margin of victory, I only need to average 10 points from those two slots. I think Jackson and Woodhead are both safer bets. I am playing conservative here because I don't really need outsized numbers from these slots. This may change if Kitna boffs the pooch on Saturday. At that point I could pull Woodhead or Jackson if I thought I needed to take the risk for more potential points. (for ref, Webb put up 13.56 last week in my league).
I thought about picking up Tebow and playing him instead of Kitna... But too risky IMO. Kitna is my conservative bet. (I am playing him over Aaron Rodgers right now.)
Also, I am from houston so that may unfavorably bias me toward Tebow, because I am overly pessimistic about houston. <grin>
All that said.. I like Tebow for this week.
My final game is not until week 17 so I have already picked up David Garrard (playing houston in week 17). IMO that's 30+ points right there. But we will have to see what happens to Rogers this week.
