Do I start R Jennings over SJax?!? WHIR

Postby curtk » Sat Dec 25, 2010 3:38 pm

Rashad Jennings has been very good with few carries. Now it appears he'll get all the carries against a poor rushing defense (WAS), and everyone is extremely high on him. On the other hand, Steven Jackson is a workhorse. He played through his injuries and, although SF has a pretty tough run defense, SJax is up for the challenge. (Yahoo! report: RB Steven Jackson said he wants the ball for Sunday's must-win game against the 49ers. "Put the load on me," Jackson said, "These are the kind of pressure situations that I live for and thrive on. The team's best player should get the ball.") SJax is a stud and I can't really believe I'm thinking of sitting him. My other RB is Arian Foster.

What should I do? Jennings or SJax? For the record, I also have Torain in reserve. (League and roster info is in sig.)

Your help is appreciated. Leave a link...will help in return. Thanks!

Is VJax a flex play? Or is the league format 2RB and 3WR? If a flex play, I'd consider starting R. Jennings over VJax. As for the direct decision, I'd side with SJax - he's getting at least 20 carries most of the season. Plus, against SF, I'm sure he'll get at least a touchdown. Though, in terms of potential upside, I think R. Jennings has the bigger opportunity to go off for big point. So, if you want consistency go with SJax. If you want to gamble, go with Jennings.

I would NOT bench SJAX. He had been $$ all year avg about 12 - 15 pts a game. HE also did well against SF earlier this year. Rams are in the playoff hunt and need a win. Jennings is not an option over him.

Help!

Predator will get carries, i would just worry about the 5-yard td passes bradford likes to throw.

Jennings seems like he'll be a good start.

Torain has been hot. Has had a good couple weeks.

Don't think you can really go wrong with any, but would go with one of the two in games with playoff implications. Predator slight edge because he's, well, the predator.

I'm inclined to disagree with clarke this time. Both teams are in the playoff hunt, that's a wash. Jennings and SJax will both be feature backs, getting 80% or more of the backfield touches, that's a wash. Both teams roughly the same run/pass mix. SJax has the long term track record, but Jennings has had important carries this year, it's not like he's coming off the bench cold. So consider this:

WAS run defense: allowing 4.9 ypc, 11 rushing td's
SFO run defense: allowing 3.5 ypc, 6 rushing td's

That's way too big a matchup advantage to pass up, imo. If this were a Brian Westbrook/Anthony Dixon off the bench issue I might think otherwise, but that's not how it is here. I'd sit SJax and have no regrets doing it. Jennings will be no worse than solid, and his upside is way bigger. Good luck!

I entirely agree with BearsFan. This one is a no brainer in favor of Jennings (assuming MJD is inactive)

Match-ups mean a lot more then anyone gives them credit. People seem to think certain players can't be sat, but that is just poor analysis. For instance, do you really want to start a healthy AP or CJ against the steelers who avg 70 yds and .333 tds against rushing per game? It's very simple, NO. The very worst and very best defenses are worth considering for ANY player on your team. The next important aspect is weather (unless you are dealing with Tom Brady who can be started in all climates!)

It's simple. Jennings faces the Skins. Jennings is a must-start in all leagues (assuming MJD is inactive)

VJax is in a WR slot...we don't have a flex slot. 2 RB and 3 WR. Thanks...

I'd play SJax. Look for him to get 25+ total touches this week. Jax has come out and said he wants the ball and to carry the Rams to the playoffs on his back. His hand injury is nearly 100% now as well so expect him to be targeted more in the passing game. Good luck!

Help with mine?

i think i'd go with Sjax. This is after all the reason you drafted him. I do think however when all is said and done Jennings and Sjax will have comparable numbers.
