Being that the Seahawks are in the same division as the 49ers I'm a little bummed, as that team was going nowhere with him. But I suppose his fate was sealed with another losing season with all of that talent on that team.
You could have a roster full of Smiths and shout them all the way into the locker room, but if you play as poor as the Niners have this season and losses pile up, sideline ranting seems more psychotic than passionate. Hope he gets another chance. In time he may be a real good head coach.

If he gets another head coaching chance, I hope it's with the Rams or Cardinals.
In Mike Singletary, I observed motivation, fire, and spirit. But nothing more. Certainly nothing that indicated he was going to be a great head coach. His best move was benching/challenging Vernon Davis two years ago. That worked out well for him. Everything else he touched turned to tin. How many press conferences did we watch where he looked like a beaten man with no answers?
Mike was one of the best players ever; he should get another chance to coach in this league, but he needs to mature and he needs to be further groomed before he should ever be a head coach again.

Singletary has great emotion, drive and will to win. He does not have great head coaching ability. He was overrated as a linebacker (very good but not superstar level) and also overrated as to his coaching ability. He may end up a good DEF coach but I doubt he will get another head coaching chance.
Mike's biggest failure was his inability to stick with a QB. Sure, neither of them played well, but the flip flopping back and forth shows his inability to make a decision and stick with it. I also believe he was too hardnosed towards his players. Sure it turned V Davis around. After yelling on the sidelines at Alex Smith, he played the best quarter of his life.....but in the long run, players are going to start hating playing for a guy who yells at you on the sidelines, yanks his pants down in the locker room, sends the team's best player to the lockerroom, puts in and pulls starters seemingly at random, and gives horrible post game interviews where he says nothing positive about the team. That's how you lose a locker room and in the long run, lose your job.
I really like Mike and I think a few years seasoning as a DC would do him good. And maybe he never rises above DC, no shame in that (see: Dick LeBeau).
