Who to keep? WHIR

Postby Indibuck » Sat Jan 22, 2011 2:53 pm

Looking for some feedback on my keeper team.

10-team NON PPR league with big bonuses for 300/100/100 milestones and for TDs over 30 yards. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, K, D... no flex.

We HAVE to keep at least 5, and can keep up to 9. If you keep 6, you lose your first round pick in the rookie/FA draft. If you keep 7, you lose your 1st and 2nd rounders, etc. As the league champ, I draft in the 10th slot.

As for the other owners... most will keep between 7 and 9 players, one or 2 will keep the minimum and try to restock with elite rookies and best available FAs.

My squad:
QB Schaub, Ryan, Flacco
RB AP, Beanie, Grant, Torain, R. Brown, B. Scott, Gerheart,
WR Austin, Colston, S. Moss, James Jones, MSW, Jacoby Jones
TE V. Davis, Hernandez

So who do I keep? Because my draft slot is 10th, I will likely keep either 6 or 8 players. The advantage to keeping 6 is that I will get the first pick in the 2nd round... in reality it becomes the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th pick overall, again depending on how many teams only keep 5.

leave a link and I will help you in return.... thanks. ;-D

I like the strategy of keeping six. Not a bad idea. AP is a no-brainer. Austin and Colston are pretty solid, too. VDavis is also a good option. This leaves you two slots for keepers. One has to be a QB. You have three good upside guys. Guessing Schaub is the best bet for a championship run in 2011. Ryan is a stud in the making, but he's also not putting up elite fantasy numbers right now. He plays smart football, but doesn't have a ton of great weapons and the running game comes first and foremost. So, I'd keep Schaub, AP, Austin, Colston and VDavis. As for the sixth slot, it really is a tossup. If I were you, I'd be happy with keeping just the five. However, if you want to stick with six, look for potential trades. Find someone who needs a QB especially, and dangle Matty Ice or Joe Flacco AND any combination of other players on your roster to snag you a solid keeper-worthy RB2. If trading not allowed, I guess I'd take my chances with Ryan Torain. However, I'd much rather package him and Matt Ryan and see if you can snag something a little more reliable.
