Which LB should I drop?

Which one of these LBs should I cut?

I am leaning towards cutting Hawthorne... who would you cut?

Between Cushing and Hawthorne as far as points go...its a toss-up so I go with the guy that keeps me from being out 3 LBs in week 6.

Hawthorne was my gut feeling, but then I read that Anderson's pts will be down in 2011 since Thomas will be back from his injury and Anderson might not even start?

I have to disagree with everyone who posted so far, no disrespect...
If I would have to cut between Hawthorne & Cushing, I would go cut Cushing.....

I owned Cushing last year as a keeper & he did disappoint me as he didn't lived up to the hype of being a lb1 for me after a spectacular rookie season, even without DeMeco Ryans... And now that DeMeco is back healthy again(well even though he is still not 100%), don't expect that huge tackle numbers from Cushing... And with also Mario Williams now playing outside linebacker, Cushing will have more competition for tackles & sacks/bigplays...


Hawthorne on the other hand got over 100 tackles last season even though he didn't have a full time starting gig... Now that Tatupu is gone, Curry looking like a bust, & Hawthorne has the fulltime job of MLB, i expect him to have better numbers compared to last year... i'm drafting hawthorne in my idp leagues as a lb3 with an expectation of producing lb2 numbers...


i'm no idp expert, but this is just my 0.02 based from stats & idp reviews from several sites..

From that list it's Anderson easy, and this is a great example of how chasing last year's numbers in IDP can (and will) come back and bite you in the a**.

Anderson's tackle total last year was twice his career high to that point, and borne of a perfect storm of injuries that hit the CAR LB Corps. This year, as a SLB, leaving the field in the nickel (which he will as soon as Beason's back) he'll be lucky to sniff the Top 30, but he's being drafted in the top 15.

Meanwhile, Hawthorne has already shown (2009) that he's capable of Top 10 numbers in the middle in Seattle, and that defense is going to be on the field...all...day...long. If you dropped him you dropped a LB1 with Top 5 upside.

Yes past performance is a consideration, especially with players who have a track record (London Fletcher's been putting up numbers since 1854), but to me scheme, opportunity, and supporting cast are much larger considerations, and from what I've been told I know a thing or two about this stuff.

I like them all.

Hawthorne didn't play 3rd downs last year, he will this year. Forget last year, he could have a monster year. At worst he should have a solid year. If others need a LB and he is available I highly recommend him if pickings are slim.

Original Poster should probably be dropping two of those LB. Grab Ben Tate or Delone Carter or somebody. Kerry Collins even. No real need for bench IDP players and there's few I wouldn't waive on their bye week if need be (and usually need be).

Hawthorne and Cushing both get the unkind cut from me on this squad.

I love Hawthorne for this season; he is the starting middle linebacker. He WILL be significantly better than last year. I drafted him as my LB3 with thoughts that he could (possibly) finish as a top-5 LB. I would drop Cushing and worry about bye week problems when they get here. You need to go with the best players or the players that give your team the best chance to win now, and in both cases that player is Hawthorne, IMHO.

Cushing put his big rookie numbers up as an OLB. Now he's in a 3-4 at MLB along side tackle-magnet DeMeco Ryans.

Don't drop J. Anderson yet. If you have to drop one now it's Cushing.
