I think its a good thing to keep the media and fans out, its probably the only time they will be able to get together as a team until this lockout is lifted. I can respect thier decision to do it as a fan...had there not been a lockout, maybe they would have done it differently. But the way they did it, was classy and gave the players THIER moment.
GREEN BAY - In an uncertain offseason filled with labor unrest, the Super Bowl champs finally received the spoils of their victory in Dallas.
The Green Bay Packers gathered at Lambeau Field as a team for the first time since winning Super Bowl XLV to receive their Super Bowl rings. It was a private affair, closed to fans and media, complete with red carpet entrances by the players, coaches and staff members.
The rings have 13 diamonds in the logo to represent 13 championships, and another 92 diamonds in the crest for the 92-year history of the team. Each players has his own name and number, and there's a tiny picture of Lambeau Field. The words "mind, goal, purpose and heart" are inscribed inside along with the scores of the four playoff wins.
"It was definitely an emotional moment," said cornerback Charles Woodson. "I've waited a long time and finally it's here. I get to hold up a championship ring."
