We've had a series of discussions about changing the Starting Lineup. Some good ideas have been thrown out. They can be categorized into two groups- 1) altering the starting spots; 2) expanding the number of starting players.
Thoughts-
K- I think a simple, straight-forward move would be to make the RB2 spot a RB/WR flex.
Stomper- flex positions would appear to address the issue that changes don't negatively impact any owners
Red- If we are going to have so many players why not just add a rb/wr/te slot. (Aaa 2nds)
Instinct- if we're gonna change, may as well go to a W/R/T flex
Thrifty- a flex won't necessitate a 1yr gap in introduction (LS2 2nds)
Thrifty- if the goal of the lineup change is to make it more challenging, adding a starter probably does that more than morphing a starter (LS2 2nds)
LS2- I'd be up for changing 1 RB spot to a RB/WR/TE or one WR spot to RB/WR
Stomper- if changes aren't flex positions, changes would have to be phased in over a few years
Aaa- Personally I'd like to see us add 2 or 3 flex spots
LS2- with a flex, things don't really change
Red- I prefer to add one r/w/t this year and see how it works out
Current starting requirements- QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, K, D
Proposed starting requirements- QB, RB, 3WR, TE, RB/WR, WR/TE, K, D
How is it different-
1) RB2 would be swapped out with RB/WR flex. Mimics decreased value of RBs in general in NFL in recent years.
2) W/T flex added. NFL is a passing game now, and teams are shifting to 2 TE sets to attack 3-4 defenses.
