im in a dynasty league and somebody offered MJD, Stevie Johnson 10th pick for Ray Rice, James harrison(idp)and 7th pick, need a wr, but MJD's knee scares me, what do you think, thanks,
First of all, great to see a new face around the Cafe with the season (hopefully) being around the corner - hope you stick around!
Would love to help, but need some more specifics about the league to offer some "educated" opinion. How many teams in the league? Is this a PPR league? How do your contract structures/keeper rules work (i.e. can you keep guys forever once you have them, or does their "price" rise and you eventually have to cut them?)? What is your salary cap if that's the case? I might have more questions to help more, but that will get me started ...
If I am losing Ray Rice (the best player listed) to upgrade at WR I want something better than Stevie. Don't get me wrong, he had a breakout year and upside...but not worth losing Rice. Redraft league, perhaps. Not in a dynasty.
MJD is one of the few backs I like as much as Rice and I have a mancrush on him. But that's not much of a downgrade IMO as MJD is just as good with the rock in his hands through the air or ground. Getting Johnson who is a stud himself DO IT.
I think the offer is fair, but I would probably pass. Stevie Johnson isn't enough for me to swap MJD for Rice... I too have concerns about lingering knee issues.
I agree it is a fair offer, but a couple things to keep in mind. The Ravens owe McGahee $6 million so he could be gone and McClain is a free agent so Rice may get more goal line carries this year. MJD has the knee issue. Also, if Jacksonville fall out of the playoff race do they turn to Gabbert down the stretch? I am not sold on Steve Johnson as defenses will focus on him a bit more this year. I would pass and look for another WR upgrade.
