Who is the #12 pick in rookie dynasty league drafts? You are voting on who will have the best fantasy football production in the NFL over the next 4 or 5 years with the team on which the player was just drafted, NOT who will have the best year in 2011. Assume standard scoring (1 pt. per 10 yards rushing / receiving, and no PPR) Also please assume that you have a balanced roster and don't have a great specific need for a QB, WR, etc.
Feel free to discuss the pros and cons of these players - this could be helpful for some and generate some good discussion. If you'd like to vote for a player NOT on this list, then please vote "other" and make a post to discuss the player. This will serve as a write-in vote for that player.
After pushing so hard for Hunter at 11 it is surprising how close Helu is. Helu has NFL size and speed. He has the "good character and work ethic" that can win over a coach. With a good off season and early in season production he could end up as the starter. Ryan Torain is an injury risk which would make landing the starting role even easier for Helu. Mike Shanahan compared him to Clinton Portis, I assume not a 2010 Clinton Portis, so that is a compliment.
A solid 1st and 2nd down back with a fighting chance at a significant NFL role. Not bad at 12 considering it is not an overwhelming draft class.
Helu. You know that Mike Shanahan is going to get the most out of his chosen running backs, and he already established a track record of doing that in Washington (Torain, Keiland Williams).
Everyone that's picking Helu because of Shanny seems like more of a redraft reason to me, unless you are really a fan of his talent, or plan on trading him mid-season. Shanny is on a hot seat, with so many coaches being available next off-season, and Shanny starting John Beck at QB, ther is a very high chance he's not the coach in 2012. I just wouldn't want to hold onto a guy because of the coach, when he doesn't really have a firm grip on the coaching position like some other guys.

If Shanny is really on the hot seat (never heard of that), Helu's value actually goes up, IMO. Torain's the coach's pet, and Helu's won't have to deal with getting benched cause he led off with the wrong foot making a rush attempt.

I am the lone vote for Murray, and I'm okay with that.
I am not buying the hype on Helu FWIW. First of all, this is Shanahan we are dealing with. He's the original Bill Belichick of rotating running backs, unless you are Clinton Portis... which Helu isn't. He's a bigger back that doesn't show much elusiveness or speed. I don't see a ton of upside long-term with Helu and if I am picking a RB at this spot, I would rather take a Murray or Bilal Powell -- both of whom I perceive to have higher upside, long-term.

I don't think he is on the hot seat yet, but he's made the team worse then when he took over. If he starts John Beck and they win 2 games does he keep his job? Because I don't see a season much better then that. I also don't see the weapons in the passing game there to open things up for Helu improving his production short term, and if Shanny is fired they'd probably draft another RB anyway.
I was just saying if that's 1 of your sticking points to drafting him, you might wanna keep in mind how long Shanny might be around, and make sure your still gonna like him if Shanny was gone. If the answer is no I don't think you can take him here.
