What WR's are Worth Matt Cassell?

Postby DCFan17 » Sat Jul 09, 2011 6:30 pm

I only really have 1 star WR. Dwayne Bowe. My draft platform drafted Matt Cassel, when I didn't want him because his BYE is the same as Rivers... however I think he will be a Nice QB for someone. What WR's, in your opinion, are worth Matt Cassel?
Should I trade Matt Cassel + Percy Harvin, and if so, who is worth that trade? Thanks!

Here's my team:
Adrian Peterson
Michael Turner
Phillip Rivers
Dwayne Bowe
Veronon Davis
Jets D/ST
Percy Harvin
Mike Williams (TB)
Mason Crosby
Matt Cassel
Mark Ingram
Braylon Edwards
Thomas Jones
Cardinals D/ST
Marcedes Lewis

I think Cassell alone would probably bring you the likes of a WR3...such as a Deion Branch type. Really depends on who is interested in Cassell and what he has for WRs.

If you packaged Harvin/Cassell and offered them up to the team who needs a QB, I'd look to snag a WR1 from that team...you're not going to pry a top 3 guy out of the deal, but a top 10 is not out of the question. Again it really depends on the team you are trading with.

It really significantly depends on how "needy" other teams are for QBs. Maybe you could post the QBs/WRs of some of the teams who have weaker QBs and you think might have "need" for Cassel?

Thanks for the help.
Here are the "weakest" in terms of their QB(s).

There's Team 10, He has Matt Ryan/Matt Stafford.
His WRs are V. Jackson, C. Johnson, A. Johnson, S. Rice.

There's Team 3, He has Tony Romo and no back-up.
His WRs are Dez Bryant, Deion Branch, Austin Collie, Steve Smith (CAR).

There's Team 8, He has Eli Manning/Ben Roethlisberger.
Marques Colston, Mario Manningham, Brandon Marshall, Jordy Nelson and Mike Wallace

There's Team 5, He has Mike Vick/Tim Tebow.
Kenny Britt, Michael Crabtree, Pierre Garcon, Jeremy Maclin, and Hakeem Nicks.

Everyone else has more solid QB combos.

I can tell you with 99% certainty that this is the only team of those that will have an interest in Cassell. The others have good enough situations where they probably aren't going to want to take on another QB.

I'd try a Cassell/Edwards for Dez Bryant and see where that gets you. If nothing else you may get a counter back if he is interested.

Yeah, I'm in talks with him now... See I've played enough (I'm 22) to know I can manage with 1 QB until the BYE. He's only like 14, and messed up so bad. He drafted all Cowboys. I'm not trying to pull anything on him at all, and hope no one else is either. Lucky for me I'm the LM so I can' veto anything fishy.

I'd be wary of trying to get Dez Bryant from someone who drafted Tony Romo.

This is what I mean. If an owner believes that Romo will have a solid season, he is most likely equally high on his WRs. You seem to be painting him as a Cowboys homer, and that can cloud judgment sometimes.

I'm not as down on your wide receivers as you are. I'm guessing this is a decently shallow league (~10 teams) for you to be upset with Bowe, Harvin, and Buc Williams. I think your WRs are better than Team 3's. At this point in the season, I don't think you will be able to get that great value for moving Cassel. Like MattB said, very few teams need a QB. Because of this, you'd have to package up, and the increase of WR talent wouldn't be great. You are better off waiting for an injury to someones QB1, or trying to sell Cassell after a few big weeks.

Who is available on your WW as far as wide receivers go? You could cut your second defense and take a flier on someone.

Offer Cassell for Collie.

He actually is a Cowboy homer... lol... It's all Cowboy fans, and he is one of two who drafted a team of Cowboys.
He actually drafted Buehler in the 4th??? IDK. LOL.
