Fantasy Football Index abandons print edition due to lockout

Postby spodog » Tue Jul 12, 2011 6:27 pm

The fantasy football industry, for example, takes in about $800 million a year nationally, but some magazine publishers already have written off the season.

“We’ll be lucky if we make one-third of what we make in a normal year,” publisher Bruce Taylor recently told The Associated Press. His company won’t produce its Fantasy Football Index magazine for the first time in 25 years

Wonder how many more of these will come? I know ESPN said they were still printing their mag still, but I haven't heard much (and just realized I haven't wandered by a magazine rack in a long time) :-?

I still buy a magazine every year and its been FF Index since 1996. I dont use it as a draft sheet anymore as I make my own. But heck the FF Index helped me grab Herman Moore and Curtis Conway back in the day and I took 3rd my first year. Thats when the addiction started

What I do use it for is to recall what happened last year. Some players you forget about how well they did. Reading it helps me remember what happened last year which in turn helps me put together my draft list. ;-D

FF Index is planning on doing an electronic version of their mag, in a reduced format, about 5 weeks after the lockout is announced as over. Just no print mag though
