Scratch that...it just autopicked Harvin and AJ Green for me....I guess the 3 RB in a row were due to the glut of RB in the autorankings!
Hooray! Excluding K and DEF really works! I suggest everyone try it!
Just make sure to keep your K exclusion list fresh....read a story about one guy getting an Indy kickoff specialist who was added at the last minute by Yahoo.
I've been trying mock drafts all day, and I think Yahoo's Autopick is still buggy. I pre-ranked around 300 players, and it did the normal autopick style - picked a K and DEF in the 7th and 8th round or whatever. When I 'exclude all' for both of them, that's when things start to go haywire. One mock picked mostly all RB's (like the previous poster explained), however it didnt' follow my pre-rank logic at all. The next mock picked 4 QB's - same issue. I feel like the code is trying to look for a K or DEF and when it doesn't realize...well, I don't know what it does then but it certainly is not following my rankings. Anyone else have any advice? Might just be stuck with picking a K or DEF early...bummer!
I went to work on 4 hours sleep this morning to avoid the dreaded Autodraft (Majority of the league lives in AZ and I am in MI, college friends). One guy was on autodraft and ended up with Ryan Williams, another somehow got Donald Jones when his computer went down mid-draft. That was classic, everyone is going "who?" Ten minutes later he comes back online and said he had to reboot his computer.
QB: BREES, Cutler RB: TURNER, MCGAHEE, R. JENNINGS, Leshoure, D. Williams, Hillman, Hunter, Dwyer WR: CRUZ, GARCON, Amendola, Edwards, D. Baldwin TE: GRAHAM
I do enjoy using my 4 available teams on my email account to let Yahoo autopick for me. Its exciting to log in and see who you ended up with.
In the leagues that actually mean something though, its manual draft. Cafe leagues, my money league at ESPN, my keeper at MyFantasyLeague, etc. No way am I letting a computer decide who I draft when my reputation is on the line

Sorry for necro-posting but I was unable to find a more recent thread on this same topic.
It seems to me that Yahoo's autodraft bug has never been fixed. I have participated in several mock drafts using my rankings with all kickers and defenses excluded. It doesn't pick a kicker or defense for me. However, once it gets to the point where the autopick would normally be a kicker or defense it starts ignoring my customized rankings and starts using the default rankings. For example, on my last pick Cedric Benson was highest ranked player on my board but the autopick selected LaGarrette Blount instead who about the 10th highest on my board.
Has anybody else seen this and know of a workaround?

This is exactly what's happening. Another year goes by and it's still a problem. Does anybody know of a workaround?

I'm pretty sure starting last year they let you have 8 teams on one handle now.
Funny, I haven't been on FFCafe for 1 year, and when I return, my old post is frontpaged.
Personally, I'd rather have yahoo take 4 RBs than take a K or DEF in r7, 8. Last year I thought it worked, but I had to "include" at least 180 players to cover all the teams.
In one league where I tried this hack, I ended up with a K who was just signed that day to be a kickoff specialist and added to yahoo. Ugh. Moral of the story: you have to exclude kickers/def until right before you autodraft.
