deep into the rookie draft...Question..

Postby hobo » Thu Jul 21, 2011 8:23 am

I need to grab a QB. I currently have Drew Brees & McNabb.. I know! MCNABB!!!!!! lol

anyway, Ryan Mallett is the only rookie QB left. But Kafka of Phi, Bulger and Jeff Webb are all that is on the waiver wire as well..

this is a VERY VERY deep 16 team 47 player roster with 2 taxi squad and 2 IR slots.. SLIM pickens if you know what I mean..

Im liking Kafka over them all... what do you think

I would just grab Mallett and stash him.

Sitting behind Brady and learning from him and BB has got to be one of the best things that can happen to a rookie QB. Could be Rodgers-esque in a few years.

Having seen Kafka a little bit I don't think he'll be a starter in the NFL. I think the Eagles will sign Tarvaris or Vince Young to backup Vick. If Kafka isn't owned at this point, and I don't think there's much risk he'll have value in 2011.

I would add John Beck over all of them, if available. http://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2011/07/06/emerging-nfl-talents-qb-john-beck-redskins/ A starting QB is a starting QB, and Rex Grossman put up some fantasy stats last year in the same position so it's possible Beck could get some Fitzpatrick momentum.

I think you wait at least 3 years for Mallett. Your rosters are really deep but still that's a long time.

I would second the Beck call. Assumed he was owned. Grab him if not.

If you are looking for a longterm QB stash then I would go with Hoyer from the players mentioned.

It'll be a long wait, but considering what's left for rookies and who's there as far as "vets" go, I think I'd also take a chance on Mallett ;-D
