League format and draft question

Postby bandrus1 » Thu Jul 21, 2011 10:07 am

Could really use some advice here!

So In the past my league has always been 2QB 2 RB 3WR

QB's were huge in this league and were always drafted really really heavy because you start 2 a week and by the end a lot of people didnt even have enough on the WW to battle injuries and benching to start 2 in some weeks

This year we are doing

2 QB's 2 RB's 2 WR's and a WR/ RB

Am I right in Thinking WR's are pretty much completely de valued and I need to draft very QB and RB heavy?

My understanding is that you are only changing the 3rd WR spot to a RB/WR flex, correct? I don't think it changes draft strategy that much, although many owners would take an extra RB or 2 over an extra WR.

Is it PPR? How many teams?

If it's not PPR, you'll pretty much want to start 3 RBs. There's only about 10 WRs with good TD/yardage upside, and other those guys you should probably punt at WR and pick up serviceable guys later or upside plays like STL guys.

If it is PPR, then 2nd or 3rd tier WRs might be preferable to committee RBs.

I would definitely leave the first 4 rounds with 2 QBs and 2 RBs. This would work great if it was PPR, as I would just target slot receivers (Danny Amendola, Davone Bess) later in the draft to fill up your WRs.

This pretty much sums it up. The order might go one way or another depending on who's taken when, but I'd be pretty hard-pressed to come out of the 4th round with anything other than QB, QB, RB, RB if I were you ;-)

thanks guys

that is pretty much how the first 4 rounds go anyway in this league with the first 2 rounds being about 15 out of 20 picks being QB's

2 QB leagues are weird...what's the point, try a 1 QB league and you won't have that problem

Why play PPR?
Why play IDP?
Why play in a 8-team league?
Why play in a 14-team league?

There are many variations in FF and they all add different dynamics to a league - adding a second QB is just that a different dynamic.
