Finley for Maclin? Please help! WHIR

Postby Wile E Coyote » Fri Aug 05, 2011 10:07 am

I am in a keeper league that keeps 4 players - my current 4 keepers are DeSean Jackson, Peyton Hillis, Stevie Johnson and Jermichael Finley

I have pick # 1.03 in a snake draft with notable available players being Aaron Rodgers, Chris Johnson and Calvin Johnson

I have been offered Maclin and pick 1.02 for Finley and my pick 1.03

my thoughts:
I think Finley could be huge like a #2-3 WR but he could also get injured - i also worry about having 2 receivers from Philly (Maclin and DeSean) although would try to trade Desean cause it is a PPR league and i think he could be overvalued by some in that format......
I really need Chris Johnson since Hillis is my #1 RB although he could go #1 and i could take aaron rodgers as a consolation...

please help! i need to make a decision!

Hi,

I love Finley, but I think I would do it because the dropoff between 2 and 3 looks HUGE to me. Have you considered negotiating with the guy picking #2 to not draft Rodgers or Johnson, should only one be available (can that even be done?)?

Because if I knew one or the other would be available, no way I would make the trade (and my guess is you agree).

The only negative is that you would have both Jackson and Maclin...but I think you still have to take this trade.

I would easily trade Finley for Maclin and to move up into the middle of the Rodgers/CJ/CJ sweepstakes is icing on the cake.

I would definitely try and move Jackson once you made the deal though ;-D

no way I trade Finley for Maclin.....reports from Camp is Maclin may not play this year.....mono has him down like 25 lbs.....the swap in Picks is Huge.......the drop between the top 2 and Megatron is about a round so I would consider.....but trading more for the pick than the player......

so for me the question is would you rather have Finley and Megatron, or Rogers (assuming Cj goes #1)........

Scoring dependent.....even with that top tier of qb's this year qb's are deep....2nd group is huge......think I would pass

Not what I've read anywhere. I heard he lost 15 pounds, has gained half of it back, his exact return date to practice is unknown and NO ONE has said a word about missing a game at this point, much less the season.

I follow a Philly sports blog that's fairly reliable, and they've reported his condition as being significantly worse than what we've been hearing. It's still rumor, but it scared me off him in drafts.

Don't do it. Finley is a top 3 TE (imo) and you shouldn't be starting two receivers from the same team if you can help it.

Keep Finley and take the leftover of those 3 guys. If what the others are saying about Maclin is true you want to avoid that!

I'm not big on having both WR's from the same team. Also another thing to consider is that Maclin is coming off a summer where he battled mono and lost 20lbs. It will take him a while to recover and gain back his strength. Mono really zaps the strength for a while.

Finley for Maclin? Please help! WHIR

Postby saemick » Sat Aug 06, 2011 9:59 am

I think I'd stick with Finley a well. You're correct in thinking (if healthy) he can be equivalent to a 2/3WR... and getting that out of the TE position is more valuable to me than getting Maclin & 1 spot up in the draft. If 1 of the 3 guys you mentioned will be there at 1.03 anyway, I really don't see the need to make the trade.

I would look for antoher wr simply because then all your eggs are in one basket with Philly. If they get shut down, the run all over someone, or simply get a few rushing td's then you have two wr's being shut out instead of one. Anyone else on his roster worth making the move for? Good luck.
