Hardcore League, trading Nicks

Postby Bobbleheadrusty » Sun Aug 14, 2011 5:12 am

18 keepers, 12 teamer. Start 1qb 1k 1def and either 2/3/1 1/5 or 3/1/2.

Team has been passable but eh the last couple years. wasted 1.11 last year on Jimmy Clausen (already dropped)

Team is old, wouldnt mind rebuilding.

TRADE is my Hakeem Nicks for Owen Daniels (TE get 1.5 pts per 10 yrec) 1.6 this year, 1st in 2012 and 2013 (2012 probably high, 2013 who knows). Nicks is my only decent WR, but its a lot of value

Leaves me with

QB Brady
RB MJD Moreno F.Jones (T.Jones, A.Dixon, B. Jacobs)
WR Welker (TO, Mason, Cotchery)
TE O.Daniels,B. Watson (Shiancoe, H. Miller, J. Carlson)

Picks 6, 7,9 in this years 1st, 2 in 2012 and 2 in 2013.

This is a rookie entry draft mainly. The highest rated vets are Danny Amendola, Rashaad Jennings and Jordy Nelson

Nicks is a guy you keep when you rebuild. Super young at a position with longevity.

I would be trading Welker and MJD for similar deals. I might even trade Brady if I were to get back 1sts and Bradford/Ryan or someone similar.

Trading away young studs is not how you rebuild, it's how you perpetually rebuild.

I agree. Nicks is an elite WR who is very young. I would not be trading him for draft picks and a injury proned TE.

You're getting some pretty good stuff for Nicks in this deal...which should tell you something. Stick with him and he won't steer you wrong

You're not even getting that good stuff...a middle of the road TE. A middle 1st round pick. A future pick that's probably mid-late. A WAY future first.

Thanks all for the feedback. I turned it down. TE carry extra value in our league because of the potential 3/1/2 lineup, but I just couldnt move Nicks.

If anyone is interested I took the following players so far 1.7 J. Baldwin (little and the elite RBs were gone) 1.9 D. Carter (was between him and..) 2.9 Vareen.
