proposed trade

Postby TonyB0505 » Sun Aug 14, 2011 4:22 pm

Hi,

How would you rate this trade? This is a deep league where everyone is a keeper. I actually proposed it as I am a bit weak at RB, but now I am not so sure. Oh, also my team is a bit old.

WR - Reggie Wayne
WR - Sims-Walker

-for-
QB - Tavaris Jackson (I lack a backup QB)
RB - Mark Ingram
WR Mark Clayton -or- RB Deione Carter

I am getting cold feet!

POst your roster for a more accurate answer but if you are in real need of RB help the deal is ok for you. I would forget about CLayton though and take Carter in the deal.

I would probably explore a couple other deals if you are willign to deal Wayne. Target a top team that is lacking a bit at WR and see what you can get.

If you are moving Reggie Wayne I would some more value 2011 back. I understand targeting Mark Ingram due to the keeper aspect of this league, but you should be able to net a more solid back up QB and 3rd player.

I guess my main qualm with this deal is I think it might hurt your short term chances to win. If that is what you are intending to do though, then that is your decision., You might have to pull a couple deals like this to get back into a place where you can contend if your roster is as old as you are advertising. Reggie Wayne is near the downside of his career, but he should be able to produce at an elite level for a couple more years.

I'd explore some other options because I don't really love it short term, but as a long term deal this is okay.

After seeing your roster I see where you are coming from. You do without a doubt lack depth at running back, but I think you might be able to fill that without moving Reggie Wayne. Mark Ingram has a huge amount of rookie hype surrounding him going into this year, so the perceived value of him must be very high in this league. If there is a team who has RB depth and a slight need for a lower end WR upgrade or TE help, you could try to package MSW and Cooley for a RB2 type player. I am not staunchly opposed to trading away Reggie Wayne, I would just make sure you get a solid package back.
